Hello all, I have an older Man 38NR that was modded to use the EQ bypass pedal. However, it was a brand new mod at the time and therefore, the pedal I got does not have the volume knob on it (non variable). What I would like to do is take my existing unit and put it in the smallest enclosure I can (like a 1590a) with a volume knob and the LED. I would simply buy the variable boost footswitch, however, 3 things stand in the way... 1. I already have the old model and a volume pot - - might as well use them. 2. I want a detachable cable (I could run 2 cords from the amp into my temple pedalboard...neat freak) 3. I want an LED. I have searched the forums, but what I have found tends to have dead links or "this pic could not be found" situations. Anybody out there have the know how? Pics are best for me...I could try to figure out schematics as well though. Here is what I'm after: (yes loop master has it for $50...but I already have the old version of the pedal...I'd like to put it to use) www.loop-master.com/variable-boost-footswitch-p-381.htmlAny help is appreciated!

I can't seem to find my copy.

It's the 6th post down in this thread:
Check out my post below for an updated drawing. Hope this helps.

Here's a drawing of how to wire the Variable Footswitch with LED indicator. The switch is a triple pole double throw, and you can use a double pole double throw as well. The center three connectors on the pictured switch are unused. It's a simple addition to add a 1/4" jack to the pedal if you like, otherwise just assume the wires coming from the jack are the existing wires in your pedal.
The negative side of the nine volt battery goes to the switch contact marked by the "ground" schematic symbol. You can also use your pedalboard power supply to run it, by adding a power supply jack like used with your pedals, but a 9 volt battery will last a good long time.
Also note that the switch is 'squashed' in the picture. Wire it so that in one position the left side contacts are connected and when you push the button it switches them off and connects the right side contacts.

Thanks so much for this! I'm going to take a look at the pedal tonight...might hit you up if I have further questions. The pic is a bit low res...just want to make sure it says PHONEJ tip and M_POT 500K. Is that correct?

Dave knows his stuff! I ordered said Loopmaster pedal and after waiting 4 months, it arrived. Problem was, the LED worked "backwards". It came on when the boost was off, and went off when the boost was engaged. I contacted LM and their reaction was "Hmmm....it's wired the same as all the others we've done". I contacted Dave and he told me exactly how to fix it. Works like it's supposed to now!

Thanks for the heads up on the loop master pedal! So here's what I'm working with. This is from 2008. I believe that is when they first started doing the EQ bypass. Is it actually possible to make this switch do what I am looking for?

This is schematic I used which I got somewhere on here. Desolder the the wire and solder an output jack in its place. IIRC the output jack fits into the hole where the wire goes through so no need to drill for that. Drill for the pot and wire it up. I didn't do the switch option or whatever that is shown on the green wire below. Didn't do the LED so can't help with that. Maybe you could use an LED ring foot switch instead of a separate light. Something like this: www.tubesandmore.com/products/switch-footswitch-3pdt-led-ringJust a thought.

You'll have to replace the footswitch with a DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) if you want an LED. Make sure that it's not a momentary switch, it needs to latch on or off. I've had good luck with this guy, I'm a satisfied customer.

A mini update. I wired a 1/4" jack to a 500K volume pot to the switch. It worked. Of course down was up and up was down...nevertheless, it worked. premiumplus (Dave) (Dave) I took your advice and ordered from lovemyswitches.com. As a side note, the customer service he offered me was superb. I would also suggest ordering from him if possible. Once everything is shipped and I find a few hours in my schedule, I'll post an update. Thanks!

All you have to do is connect the wire that's on the outside lug of the the pot to the other side and it'll reverse the "up and down" direction. Glad it worked!

Hello again... Through many different delays, I finally found the time to finish this project. The first LED that showed up was defective. Had to wait for a new one. The package with the new LED and other things was stolen by a porch pirate. Therefore, I had to reorder the LED. lovemyswitches.com was awesome the whole time. Great customer service. Also, big shout out to premiumplus (Dave) for helping me through this. Attached is a pic of the pedal on my board, as well as a VERY rough sketch I did in Illustrator of the pedal innards. (from the viewpoint of taking off the bottom of the pedal) I did this for all of the people like myself that are inexperienced with electronic schematics. I can now run a cable from my amp input and from the foot switch jack on the back of the amp to the side of my board. Hope it helps! PM me if you'd like a shopping list of parts.
