Hi all,
I have a 2008 maz 18 nr that went out on me today. I’ll try to attach audio. All of a sudden it made a strange buzz like noise and faded out. Now I’m getting no pilot light or anything when switched on.

Could be a tube (maybe a rectifier) issue and it may have taken out a fuse as well.
can you full the fuse(s) to check?

Don't just 'check' the fuse. Replace the fuse.

My guess is rectifier tube went south on you.

Do you know offhand what fuse it requires? I have a 5u4 I know if good. Is that compatible with the maz?

After reading a bit seems like maybe a bad rectifier tube than in turn blows a fuse?

Yes, you can use a 5U4 with the Maz or any other Z amp.

Replaced both fuses and rectifier it’s working like normal. Do you guys leaveap on standby when turning on?

Glad to hear it was easy fix. Standby is turned off initially then flipped on when it's been warmed for 1 minute (though you can turn both power and standby switch to on without damage).

I’ve been leaving it off as in not flipped to standby and just powering on and off, leaving it off standby always. This is safe?

That is not going to hurt it. Some might say that it wears on the rectifier.
It is not going to damage anything.

Everybody's got an opinion on this, mine is that I like to warm the tubes up before hitting them with operating voltage. I really don't think it is super critical; your old TV set didn't have a standby switch, nor any other tube operated electronics back in the day, and tubes lasted for years. I like it to save wear on the tubes when you take a break and come back within a half hour or so; it keeps everything at operating temperature and ready to go. But it's not going to cause me to lose any sleep if I forget and don't use it.
