I had a JHS Muffuletta on my board that I loved, but with my current gig, it just wasn't getting any use. Like, at all. Never. It was just too extreme. I love Muff tones. I love Gilmour Muff tones, I love Corgan Muff tones, I love Aurbach Muff tones, but try as I might I just couldn't get them to work in the context of the ambient church thing. So I decided to try the Brothers which I had been kind of lusting after since it was released. I loved the idea of having fuzz, drive, and boost in one pedal and the ability to combine them and to choose which comes first in the chain, plus the ability to save presets. Turns out it fits so perfectly with my setup. I should have gotten this a long time ago! The fuzz can get muffy when cranked or it can be kind of raspy/spitty or kind of in that ratty fuzzy kind of territory. The drives can get that Am radio kind of tone into the transparent overdrive kind of thing into full-on distortion and the boosts I think are my favorite. They can go from clean boost to first stage overdrive and can give that perfect mid boost when added with another pedal for leads. I have the klon/tube screamer/plexi thing covered with my Selah Scarlett Love, and my main rhythm tone with the JHS Superbolt, and the Brothers fits right in to round out everything in between. Alone or in combo with the others, there's not a whole lot I can't do with these three. Definitely check it out if you need to fill the gaps or if you want small board secret weapon!
