Must be an acronym for something. Essential Marshall Sound ....and, of course, it's a medical term too

I’ve got a serious Jones right now for one. It all starts with a little research, a few demos, and some online reviews. Then the rationalization, moving or hiding existing gear from the wife, and BAM - you find yourself at someplace like humbuckermusic.com. I see it happening, plain as day.

Yeah, the online demos of the JCM-800-esque side of the amp sound huge. Buckets o' crunch.

It's a very versatile and too. Lots of different tones and level of gain. Cleans up real nice too. I have mine paired with a 2x12 loaded with English Greenbacks. Sounds amazing! Go for it!! Todd

It looks so cool. I would like to play in a band that played loud enough to open one up!

Wish I had anywhere to use 50 Watts.
I had a bassman RI once that was awesome - but I could never push it. Hate to try to tame 50 watts with an attenuator. 30 is about all I can work with these days.

There is no perceivable difference between 30w and 50w. I tried to talk myself out of big amps for a while, but truth be told, my DB4 and my EMS are equal through the same cab.
This week's AMA was well timed. I've been using the 8ohm tap on the EMS with my 16ohm cab and Brake Lite. It's definitely usable at club friendly levels.

I thought it was Elusive Marshall Sound... you know, chasing that elusive sound in our heads. And yes, as Keith said, also the "emergency medical services" twist since the "Doctor" tends to play on words like that with many of his amps (the ones that aren't named after cars).

I’m with you on the 50 watt topic. I would have to tame it with the Power Station to even think about it. But you can’t have plexi punch without EL34s. Just a fact of life. Jonesing hard over here...

I really like mine. Like people said above, lots of levels of gain, from edge of break up, to full crunch tweed/marshall, to over the top marshall lead tones. Since I got mine a month ago I have only been playing it with my SG with lollars and it sounds so good. I like the speaker choice too, some nice reedy tones particularly in the low mids.
This weekend I got my vintage 1965 fender reverb tank out and tried the EMS in "high gain" mode (high sensitivity), and the gain around one o clock, but with the volume turned down about 9 o clock while playing my strat and the clean sharp tones with a little sizzle on them and a little reverb and it was amazing. Lots of options packed into that box.
