Hey fellas, I've had good luck with Faber's locking bridge systems on my Gibsons, and I'm thinking about putting one on my Firebird.
Have any of you had any experience with different brands of locking bridge/tailpiece systems? I really like the increased sustain and coupling that the bridge and tailpiece mods make, and I've got them on my 335, LP Standard Premium Plus, and my SG.
No connection between me and Faber, but for Memorial Day they've got a 20% off sale going on, so I may go for an aged nickle setup.
Any suggestions or thoughts about these 'upgrades'? Appreciate your input!

I never knew what a 'locking bridge' was. I thought it always had something to do with a tremolo system. Who knew that it is what's on my Les Paul. Well, I guess most other folks knew. My guitar guy just swapped the original bridge back onto my Gold Top replacing the old Dimarzio one. It's nice getting it back to original.
Not much help from me on the Faber projects, but you helped me on education. Good Luck!

I installed a Faber on a 335 I once had. I didn't notice any real improvement in tone or sustain. Sorry. However the precision of it appeals to the "machinist" in me. I only have one Gibson currently - an SG - and it is not my main guitar. If it was I would be inclined to do an "upgrade" with the hope that it really would be an improvement on that guitar.
Come to think of it I have installed a couple of those bridges and tailpieces on customer guitars but I didn't have much time playing them before or after the install. I don't remember it making a significant difference on those either. The customers were happy with them though.

I went ahead and ordered the aged nickle kit with half titanium bridge saddles and the other half nickle plated brass. I really dig the locking tailpiece, no more worrying about the tailpiece falling off when I change strings. It's locked down tight with various spacers so I can set it to 3 different heights. I really dig the engineering in their products, they're well made, and for 20% off it was a no brainer. If you're interested there's still a couple of hours left to get the deal. Now back to practicing "Make Me Smile", we've got a great arrangement for the big band and I get a 72 bar solo. Going to try to cop Terry Kath's opening theme, and stay true to the original feel of the solo, but wow, fellas. Kath was one whale of a guitarist. I'll never get that down note for note, at least not with the same feel. What a great musician he was.

Got my aged nickle locking tailpiece / bridge from Faber the other day and here's some pictures for the curious. It really makes the 'Bird sustain and sing better. I think the titanium/brass bridge saddles (titanium on the low 3 strings) help the bottom end ring better. Cool! Here ya go...
