Played my first gig in a couple months last night at a venue where we used to play a lot. (They've cut way back on bands ) The Z-Plus was just so good. All the tones I wanted from the guitar, amp and a couple pedals. I used full power for the first time at a gig. I had to dial the volume back! I may have to go back to half power so I can keep the Master up where I like it. A first-class problem. As much as I like the Cure, the Z-Plus is, for me, the ideal small-venue amp. (Planning on using either the Z-Lux or DB4 for outdoor shows this summer.) Worth mentioning again that this amp sounds bright at home, but is perfect in the band mix at a gig. Tele into Z-Plus complemented the other guitarist's LP --> Marshall really well.

That’s great to hear. I’m really jonesing for a Z Plus and it sounds like the right amp for my stable. I’ve used 5 to 30 watt amps for years for small to mid size gigs (haven’t done a large gig, which to me is 500+, in ages) with great results. When needed (like outdoors) I just mic the amp
What Marshall was your other guitarist using ? I’m always surprised in this era of stellar lower powered amps to see 50 and 100 watt Marshalls in clubs where you can’t even wind up a 20 watt amp. I’ve got a Marshall DSL201 I’ve had for years and I really like it for the clean channel (turned mostly all the way up to get just early break up - the distortion channel is useless), but even at 20 watts I can’t crank it in most bars or private gigs.

Great to hear you are enjoying it!
I have asked this before, but based on your gig report, I have to ask again. I am running the Cure for my dirty sounds. Mostly small to mid-sized venues. I run the Master and Volume full and the Level knob to room size. I don't believe I have ever had the Level knob over 12 o'clock (half) usually at 10-11 o'clock. Can the Z-Plus set for clean keep up? I like the idea of having the reverb for cleans. Also, I think it would be a killer 2 amp set up.
By the way, loving the Cure. Best amp I have played according to the bass player and drummer in my band.
Thanks, Mike

I don't know, although I should It's a small combo, but I know it's not one of those little 5- or 10-watt Marshalls. He uses pedals for solos, so I think he's got the volume throttled back. In any case, we're very respectful of relative volume and mix. And I have big-iron Zs if there ever were to be Volume Wars!
