I got a Dr Z 2X10 cabinet a couple of weeks ago (my first Z cabinet).
I'm super happy with it. I'm driving it with a EZG-50 head. It has the Z speakers in it and they really punch! They cut thru the mix nicely!
It's my first experience with 10" speakers and I'm a happy camper.

He played through it with his Therapy at a show last week and it sounded fantastic!

The Z 10" speakers are really cool. My first Z amp was a 2x10 Maz Jr. There wasn't much I couldn't do with that combination. Congrats on your purchase . . . . . of course you probably already know this . . . around here if there isn't a picture, it didn't happen!! pictures please Todd

I’m a home player, so no cutting through the mix, but I use my 210 cab with my EZG as well. It is punchy.

My first Z was a 2x10 Maz combo as well. Prior I had been solely a 12 user for About 40 years. Now more often than not I go with the 10's as long as they are the Z-10's. Enjoy.

My first pro amp was a Vibrolux Reverb. I've loved 10's ever since. My JAZ is a 2x10.

I had a Ghia with 210's, something about that amp, it just didn't have "it". I have a convertible 210 with my Therapy, liked it but not loved. I have a great Maz 18 112 and figured I would keep my eye open for a matching blond ext cab. Figured I would do either the 112 or 210 if I could get one for $300. Figured I would have to be real patient but hit a deal the other day. Can't wait to run them together.

I ended up changing one of the Z speakers for a Celestion Alnico gold 10". I really dig the sound.
It has the punch of the Z-10 with the smoothness of the Gold. It works nicely for me.

Hey Roger, great to see a fellow EZG-50 player here. I see in the pic you have your bass all the way down as I have been running mine. I'm considering doing the "bass reduction" mod myself. I have the capacitors in hand and just need to get up the nerve to do it. I would send it in to Dr. Z but the wait is too long for me to be without it. I was just wondering if you were content with yours running the bass at minimum and what your thoughts were on this.

I was a little concerned about the bass when I first got the amp. There's lots of posts about the bass mod, but I don't think I need it.
Also I was using 12" speakers with my EZG when I first got the amp. The 10" speakers seem a to have a little less bottom end to my ears.

Thanks! I have the 2x10 as well as 1x12 and 4x10. They all sound great just different. I think my favorite is 4x10 cab with z10's (running in series/parallel for total 16 ohms) then 1x12 with z12 and then the 2x10 with z10's. Actually, my fav would be two of those cabs at same time. The 1x12 with the 2x10 in series at 16 ohms sounds pretty good! I dont think I like the 4 ohm output of the EZG-50 as well as the 8 and 16 ohm.

Yea, I'd like to try a 4x10 and a 1x15 cabinet. But....I'm trying to leave well enough alone. I did run my 2x10 cabinet with a 1x12 with a Celestion Alnico Cream in it for a while. It sounded good, but it didn't seem like the volume of the cabinets were balanced. I started using a M12 to push the 1x12 cabinet now. It sounds glorious.

I going to experiment running doing something similar with my Maz 38 but haven't gotten around to it yet. I was thinking if I ran both like that I could mic one for the front end and then the other I could adjust more during the gig for my onstage monitoring level without affecting the front end so much. I also thought about using my 4x10 cab and letting the EZG-50 power two speakers and letting the Maz power the other two with completely separate independent connections just sharing the same cabinet. I forgot that I do have a 1x15 with Eminence Legend 1518 and it does sound great too! I started by having a 1x15 baffle made for one of my Dr. Z 2x12 backline cabs and then I had MojoTone just make me a custom 1x15 cab for it. I just have too many toys to play with right now. It's fun. Right now for club gigs when I play with another guitar player I take the Dr. Z 1x12 with z12 speaker. My 4x10 seems to intimidate people for some reason. They freak out when I show up with it. I guess it's the height. It's the same width as my 1x12 and takes up no more stage room. For my own personal gigs that's what I'd be using.

I don't do it for the money it's just a hobby for fun.
