Hello everybody,
I am new to the forum and just picked up a Cure on reverb. Got it this last Saturday after UPS had changed my delivery day while I was out of town to an earlier shipment, this sucked because it was just sitting on my porch for a longtime. Luckily my lady was able to stop by and pick it up, but I was very uncomfortable thinking about a package thief walking off with my first Dr. Z.
Anyways, first played this at Mass St music in Lawrence, KS (my fav guitar shop in my college town) and was hell-bent on coming back to pick it up, however someone purchased it a few days later and I never got the idea of buying this amp out of my head. Loved the way it sounded, and as someone who plays at home a lot, loved the level control. Luckily I was able to a decent price on a like new one on Reverb and didn't hesitate to pull the trigger.
I am very impressed with it and didn't even realize it came with a foot-switch until I was browsing the web for one. I am very impressed with the definition of this amp, even when playing dirty. I like accent notes to ring out and not get lost in the noise. The built quality seem excellent too.
Couldn't be happier with my purchase and glad to be part of the group!
Thanks, RD

I want to tell you that the Cure might be all the amp you’ll ever need, but an awful lot of us here have, or have had, more than one Z.
It could happen to you, too.
It’s OK; we understand.
Welcome!

Welcome to the group, lots of great people here and sage advice. You picked a great one for your first Z.

Welcome to the Forum! You've got a great amp there as your first Z. The problem with them is that you are always looking to see what your next Z will be!

Thanks for the welcomes guys... Went home and jammed for a bit over lunch. Came back to work with a smile, not bad considering its Monday. Was looking at a Z-drive, impressed it was made in colab with Earthquaker, think they make solid boxes. Anyone have any remarks on Z-drive and the Cure? Have yet to run any pedals through the thing as I typically don't run too many (mosly drive, delay and loop).

Most all Z amps play nice with pedals - especially the Z-Drive.

This thing is amazing. Can't stop playing with it. Might as well sell the rest of my amps at this point... maybe not the DRRi but yeah.

Is the Cure louder? More clean headroom? Etc.? (I'm not close enough to any Z dealer to try one out, so I'm stuck here asking questions.) It seems to be based on specs alone that there would be a lot of overlap.

I think the biggest thing is that the DDRi starts breaking up around 4 or so... at this volume its already super load for my living room. The Cure has the volume, master and level so I can dial in a louder clean than I could on the DDRi. The Cure allows me to play some crunchy stuff at volumes that aren't gonna piss off the neighbors, hell even volumes that aren't gonna piss off people in the next room. The DDRi is overall louder. Both amps are great but if I were just sticking with one, the Cure would def win because of its versatility.

Have a Vox Night Train V2, Traynor YCV40wr and a Hovercraft Dwarvenaut that are on the chopping block.
