Haven't even received the amp yet, but so very stoked to get it. So, I had posted a Suhr Badger head for sale recently - great amp, I just wasn't playing it, preferring to play either my bassman '59 RI or my blackfaced drip edge bassman that I had converted to a combo. Perfectly happy with those amps - sound great clean / different enough. Both take overdrive pedals well, etc. So someone on the guitar forum where I usually hang out offered me a Dr. Z cure in trade. "yeah, I don't know...I've never really played a Dr. Z and I'd really just prefer the cash...". But did my due diligence and researched the amp. There was one video that I probably watched on a daily basis. This one: Oh my goodness. That was the perfect amp sound I've heard in my head. Can get pretty darn close with the one of the bassman amps and an overdrive pedal, but this was all amp! and at ANY volume level according to the spec sheet. Well, turns out my Badger sold before I could make the trade. Considered offering the guy cash for the Cure but just went all in for a brand new one from Chicago Music Exchange. Very reasonable return policy (doubt I'll need it) plus I get the 5-year warranty (doubt I'll need it). Now, just to wait....LOL TL;DR - sold an amp, bought a Cure, waiting anxiously for it to arrive

Welcome to the forum, there are lots and lots of great people here. Congrats on the Cure. I have one and absolutely love it. It's light weight, great tone, plenty loud, versatile and loves pedals. I think you're going to be happy.

I like you have gone thru a slew of vintage fenders over the years and this one just did everything I wanted out of a fender. I have a Les Paul, ES-175, SG, Strat, Tele Rick 12 string & Rick 6 string & it's eq can handle any of them WAY better than any vintage fender.
It also takes pedals really well but I've yet to find one that I like more than the amp cranked. There's a chimey swirley thing going on harmonically that is hard to describe but easy to hear plugged straight in. Do yourself a favor and get used to it with the volume and master up using the level control to set the room loudness (as opposed to using a board full of pedals). Less is more with this amp.
Give the speaker some time to break in also and it will really open up.

Congrats on the incoming and welcome. The level control is incredible. Any perceived loss of tone at lower levels seems to be due to our non-linear hearing, so just tweak eq as needed. The extra (variable) gain using the eq bypass adds another dimension. Very useful for gigging.

Love the Cure too! It may sound a little tight with a new speaker,, once its gets a little use it smooths out!! Try the knobs at extremes just to hear the tonal changes.. I pretty much leave mine all at noon except I do sometimes turn the mids way down.. cool sounds! Very Usable amp for all occasions

thanks everyone! This seems like a great place to hang - nice folks and a wealth of knowledge. I'll post more once I get the amp in.
