Hi All,
My youngest son has really been taking off with his guitar playing lately and has been asking about pedals. Like most of us, I have a few laying around that are not being used.
Last night we pulled out an old board that I have and got to plugging in pedals and seeing what he likes. He likes bands like "Rise Against", "A Day to Remember", "Sum 41" and "Offspring". Punk to Metal Core.
He picked out a few drive pedals and a nice tremolo pedal (Chelsea Nights by oldschooleffects is the best Trem I have heard aside from Dr Z's Trem on the Z lux).
Once we put his board together (Patty has a nice little stash of pedal board cables for me to pull from) I pulled out my board and plugged in. I showed him a few things and then turned on my Z Drive. He immediately snapped his head around and asked "what was that!". I told him about the Z drive and he loved the Red side!
Keep in mind we tried out about 10 different flavors of Drive pedals over the course of about an hour but when we turned on the Z Drive it was a class all by itself. Here is what we liked about it.
It had tons of gain (Josh was using his Les Paul Studio into my clean Monza)
There was no back ground garbage/noise
String to string articulation was excellent
Despite a high gain setting there was a clarity that NON of the other pedals had
It was punchy
String muting sounded AWESOME with killer thump
With the on board EQ we could dial in a wide range of tones
So, he has a few pedals on his board right now but he has added a Z Drive to his wish list!!
