I did my first 4 hour gig w/the Cure last night.
I got a number of compliments for the amp over the course of the night. The sound guy loved how it sat in the mix. The drummer had me cranked in his ears b/c he knew it was a new amp and he loved the sound. Another guy who is a picker was in the club and he was really impressed with the sound. He said it cut through when necessary and was clear when I was just comping chords.
I ran her clean (volume at 11:30, treble and bass at 1:00, mids off, master wide open and level at 11-12). I had the boost switch just past noon and used that as my primary drive sound. We had a very good stage volume, loud enough to be happy but quiet enough that the foh was clear.
The other good thing is we showed up early for a couple quick run throughs and that amp was on from about 6:30 to 1:30 without any griping from the amp about being on for a long time.
I REALLY enjoyed playing this amp. It went from clean to “yeah, baby yeah” and every point in between.
Brilliant amp!

Great report, thanks for posting it. I'm loving my Cure too. I find myself going for it rather than the Z-Lux a lot of the time, simply because it's got similar, great tone, and it is so portable. Gettin' lazy in my old age I guess! Fantastic, versatile amp. I can get any tone I need out of it.

Like I keep saying, you just can’t go wrong with this amp!

New Cure owner here. Still getting figured out, it is so flexible. What type of guitar(s) where you using with those settings?

I use similar settings to yours but I have the Mids around noon. It gives my Strats/Tele's some nice clean beefy tone. Brilliant amp.

New Cure owner here. Still getting figured out, it is so flexible. What type of guitar(s) where you using with those settings? A 1997 PRS CE 22 with dragon 1’s was what I used on that date. I have a tele w/custom shop no-caster pickups and it sounds just as good as the PRS when I use those settings. I actually took the mid cut from someone else on the board (I think). They suggested it gives the amp more of a deluxe type feel (I have not owned a deluxe but in my application, Texas country and some southern rock, it does the trick.

I was going to take my Maz 8 to an audition on Sunday, but not knowing the size of the practice facility, I opted for the Cure and its level control. The band was amazed that I did not have a pedalboard, but complemented my tone. And, I was invited back for a final look in two weeks.
