I've been thinking about buying a new Monza with the PPIMV for some time and want to buy one in the next few days. I've used the Search function but hope that you guys can help clarify a couple of things. 1. How well does the Monza with the PPIMV work as an "at home volume level" amp? This question has been discussed here before, but I'm asking for opinions because many of the posters who have addressed volume in earlier threads don't specify whether their Monza does or does not have the PPIMV. As a result, there's some confusion. And while the term "at home volume level" isn't too specific, it's the volume at which you can play with at least some grit in the basement while the wife is watching TV upstairs. 2. The second question might be more difficult: Where can I buy a Monza in a 1x10 or 1x12 combo other than Humbucker Music? I've had two deals gone wrong with Humbucker in the past, and while I'm not playing the blame game, I'd rather buy a Monza from another dealer. Thanks in advance!

No problem with volume at basement levels. Can't say your wife won't hear it, but she likely won't mind it. At least that's true of mine. Try Guitar Riot in Cleveland. www.guitarriot.com 216-291-7172 They can drive across town and pick them up and Brent used to work for Dr. Z and is a great guy. Though I think they may not currently be a dealer, I think Third Street Music in Marietta, Ohio had a Monza in there last time I was by. Talk to Chris or Matt there. 740-373- 8558. You can tell both places I sent you. Probably won't actually make a difference.

I couldn't recommend anyone more highly.

The volume with PPMV can go down to conversation volume and still be fun. I had mine added as I felt the amp for home use was way to loud where I was living. Good luck

Definitely no problem with "you can play with at least some grit in the basement while the wife is watching TV upstairs" with the PPIMV on the Monza. (Don't try that with a non-PPIMV Monza, though! Ain't gonna happen with any grit in the tone.)

You'll be fine with basement volumes.... I was totally worried about my Monza being too loud at first too. But, I've since picked up a Brake-Lite and honestly -- I think it's not really any better than the PPIMV. I play mine at the volumes you are talking about - others can hear, but not to the point of complaining about your noise levels. It turns down just fine, and you can dial in cleans, grit, or over the top -- all at any listening level you'd like.
Bought mine used.... can't help ya there.

Thanks for the replies! It seems pretty clear that the Monza PPIMV gives control over the volume so that "at home" levels are easy to reach!

Another thumbs up for the Monza's Master Volume control. I also compared it with attenuators (Air Brake and Brake Lite) and couldn't tell the difference. It really tames the beast. The Monza is a killer little amp.

I had my Monza (with a MV) in my living room for five years - I could play and wife could watch tv - no issues with it. Recently replaced it with the Cure. Also great for living room playing.

Purely based on your profile pic.... how do pull yourself out of that room, and walk away to enter this "living room" that you speak of?!?!?!?

Thanks for the replies! It seems that the older posts that comment about the volume being hard to control are about the non-PPIMV Monza.

Hello H. Mac. My Monza has the MV...that totally makes this amp! I really can't imagine having a Monza with out an MV. Clean, to dirty, to down right the best fuzz box on the planet. At all volumes...bed room to Concert Hall. I like it with the 2x12 V30/ 70th anniversary G12H...but love it with my Dr. Z 1x12 conv. cab fitted with a blue.

It will go almost silent and you have nearly no change in tone, grit etc... 2. I bought mine used off of reverb.com and had no issues.
