Hello- Looking for anyone who has tried both and can share the experience? Also i noticed the power station 2 has the ability to use a 2 ohm load? If anyone can confirm that that would be cool since i have a super reverb i could use it on too. Thanks!!

I have had both and currently have the Fryette.
The Fryette It is a fantastic tool all the way around. If you are using it to perform live then it becomes another very valuable amp that requires care and power.
The Airbrake is a proven variable to a live rig.
I use the attenuator at home so I enjoy the precise volume adjustment without losing brightness at lower levels.
If you are planning on using it for live performances, I would consider the SA Brake Lite, you can go up 3-4 clicks which is the most that you would ever want in a live situation. You can pick one up for about $200 and they are virtually indestructible, unless you play like @irreversal.
He is the only guy that we know that blew up an attenuator (Weber Mass)

I have both and like both for different reasons. The PS is great for adding a loop in the right location to amps that are lacking that feature. It also has several EQ tuning functions to compensate for tones that go south under attenuation. The ohm load matching between amps and speakers that don't match up is really nice. Having a power amp around for acoustics, wet side effects, whatever you can think of is great. For home jamming on my Zwreck I prefer the Airbrake. It retains the feel of the amp better in the bedroom settings, doesn't require power, and has a smaller footprint. Theres definitely uses for both in my world.

I actually picked up my SA Brakelite from GC for $99 - keep your eyes open.

Thanks for the replys! I still need to know if the ps2 works with 2ohm amps ? I seen on the back the ohm selection is 2/4 ,8,16 So i assume it works with 2 ohm, but all info on the ps2 doesn't comment on the 2 part of the 2/4. Which is only on the ps2 not the ps1. I emailed Fryette and got no response. So am i safe to use my super reverb with the ps2 in 2/4 mode?

You discovered another thing I like about the PS-2. Fryette answered my emails within a couple of days both before and after I purchased the the PS-2.
The PS-2 does much more than the Air Brake but it also costs much more. I love my PS-2 for it's ability to re-amp but if I ONLY needed an attenuator to knock down the volume 3 to 6 dBs I'd go for the Air Brake. I have no intention to sell my Brake-Lite.
Unfortunately, as you found out, the Air-Brake doesn't like 2 ohms.
I used to disconnect one of the speakers in my old Super Reverb to get it to break up at a lower volume. That makes it 2.7 ohms.

Yeah - some times i disconnect 2 speakers on the super. After using the fryette ps2 on both the wreck and super- my conclusion is I like it better with the Z at bedroom levels. Yes you can make great sounds with it at low volume. But cranking up at louder home volumes makes you feel it more which feels better. At first I didn't like the ps2--but after working with it I was getting real nice singing tone pouring out the speakers! So I can't wait to jam with it at playing levels. With hum buckers you could play metal with the wreck if you so chose.

Hey Frank, didja get the PS yet? Inquiring minds want to know! I hopped an early flight home to get back to my family. Read: My guitars and amps, not actual human family... The Power Station was waiting for me on the kitchen table, kindly placed there by my girlfriend, who knows I would be skipping the unpacking of suitcases in favor of the unpacking of this box. I have to tell you, the PS is worth all of the hype it receives. purpletele has been selling me on this thing for over a year and I always (politely) shrugged him off. I've had Brake Lites, Webers, Hot Plates, Power Brakes, etc. over the years and I've never been truly happy with any of them. Regardless of what the manufacturers say, there is not one true do it all attenuator. The Brake Lite is my favorite for gigging, by far, but not for around the house (it wasn't designed for that). The Webers are great for around the house, but I had problems with two of them, and the attenuation level was not consistent on the knobs. Absolutely perfect for around the house. You can knock any amp down to whisper quiet levels and, I would say, still retain about 90% of your tone. Presence, Depth, Brite, and Bass knobs and switches help you pick up whatever you lost. I have just been jamming for the last two hours, I hope to do some recording this weekend and using it for a show Saturday night. I've been averse to anything over 30-35 watts lately, this thing has me immediately reconsidering larger amps (50 watts) and NMV amps, too. I haven't played around with the re-amp feature yet, but I might even consider some smaller amps. Amp GAS is worse than pedal GAS. Bottom line, if you're considering this, just get off of the fence already. I'm ashamed at how much money I wasted trying out cheaper alternatives...

I'll throw some gas on the fire. The PS truly is a thing of beauty. I was reluctant to sell my Therapy and drop down to a 15 watt secondary amp for cleans (relative). Any time I find myself in a situation where I need to retain that slight break up, but need a bit more volume out of the 15 watter, I just run it through the PS. Now, I have an amp that is amazing for home and studio use, and also can be used live without the dreaded fear of running out of head room. The fact that I can also use the PS to get every last drop out of the DB4 is icing on the cake.

@irreversal ,
I had teased you in private, and this is all in fun.
That amp must sound really sweet to show up wearing those clothes. Definitely not your style, which is good, maybe you're working toward a Navy EMS and you are in training.
Seriously though, I bet it is a killer amp if it made your rotation. Hope it inspires.

It will inspire, probably for 18 months. That seems to be my amp shelf life these days...

I recently purchased the Power station 2. I am going to try it out at church today. So far at home I am liking it quite a bit. Being able to run my delay in the effects loop of the power station with my Z-28 is a huge plus. Thank you all for your reviews on the power station. It does what it is designed to do and the extra features on it are also very good at shaping your tone at any volume. I tend to run my switches in the middle warm at the bottom and bright at the top. Then dial in volume presence and depth. I find it to be more flexible than an attenuator.

Ok took it to church today. It worked really well. Def see this being a good investment for non Master volume amps. I got that cranked amp sound At reasonable volumes. Effects sounded great through it as well. I would have to say I prefer the power station over a brake lite Or air brake I have had them both I like this better.
