Does using nos power tubes make a big difference in tone like using nos preamp tubes? I got a NOS 5751 in my ghia and made a great change. Wondering if putting in nos el84 or 6v6 etc would make a huge change in my Jaz or maz?

I've only tried one set of NOS EL84's in my MAZ 18 and I didn't think it was an improvement but of course that is subjective. At the time I had been using JJ EL84's and the NOS tubes were Raytheon. They seemed to be smoother but I just liked the way the JJ's had an edge to them when they were pushed.
My JAZ definitely doesn't like NOS 6V6's. I've tried three different brands and they all redplate. I tried new Tung-Sols with the same result. The only ones it likes are the stock JJ's. I'm perfectly happy using those.

From what I have noticed I would say it can. The impact varies depending on how you run the amp. If you crank the master you can hear more of it. If you run the master lower and pre higher you will hear less of the power tube impact and more of the pre amp tube impact.

Based on my experience with the Maz 18 Jr NR, it most likely all depends on which CP tubes you are using and what NOS tubes you may compare them to. For me, I compared the Russian 6n14n's to the CP Mullard EL84's with the same guitar, volume, amp and amp settings and they sounded very similar...I must be honest, I could not tell a difference. If I had two amps set up the same side by side and A/B'd them maybe I could tell a difference at that point but simply switching tubes and testing one tube at a time, I could not but that's me. So, these two tubes sound very similar to my ears based on my limited testing abilities.

If you are playing all the time I think NOS output tubes are kind of a waste. They wear out. Doc designed most of his amps around currently available tubes.

Having said that, I've had decent luck with a matched pair of NOS Sylvania 6v6s in my non-Z amp. I've had nothing but bad luck in my Ghia, which eats through NOS el84s at roughly the same rate it eats through new el84s- roughly 1 set a year (or so).
