I'm going out on a very long, unstable limb here.
I've owned over 65 amps in the past 10 years. I had some amazing amps and some duds over that time...But the Dr. Z Strangray has always been in the #1 slot. I sometimes forget that and end up with, usually another amazing Dr. Z amp, but I always find myself back to a Ray in the end. After my last round of amp sales/trades, I now have a Stingray, which I just spent the last 2 hours playing back in my bedroom wishing I had a gig this weekend! This amp has got to be the best clean and semi clean amp that has ever been invented.
Two weeks ago, I was the proud owner of a Z-Wreck... In the most recent change of events, it is gone and I have this lovely Ray. I will go one step further..... As much as I loved the Z-Wreck in all it's "Blue & Gold" glory, the Stingray is not only my absolute favorite Z, it's my absolute favorite amp ever. The Stingray/Stangray is the amp I measure all others against.....While the Z-Wreck was *almost* there, I realized tonight how much it wasn't quite there (for me). Not talking bad about it, because I loved the Wreck, just saying the Ray is "My" amp.
Just wanting to drop this little blurb out there in between jamming on the Ray!

Just a little history on your new amp.... It lived in my basement for about five years. I bought it off Curtis and then sold it back to him recently. Loved that amp, but it never left my basement and I put very few hours on it in those years. I'd play a little country tunes on it now and again...that was it. When I went out for a gig I needed a rock amp so it was usually the original Rx. So....even though it's getting to be 10-11 years old...it has low hours and It's a Good One!! Enjoy!!

I actually picked this one up off E-bay. It was Brad Paisley's amp for several years. He gave it to one of his managers who sold it to a neighbor who sold it to me -- Doc confirmed it was Brad's.

Awesome, thanks for that! It looks brand new and sounds better than I remember my other Rays sounding?? Maybe it's that "I" instead of an "A"?

Brad has no stock Stang Rays left, not sure were cap217 gets his info but it isn't correct. Also Brad is using a 100 watt Marshall head that was a gift from Kieth Richards, not Category 5, or Germino. And also there are NO Bruno products on tour.

That's pretty neat about the donor chassis. im pretty sure the comment was based on a picture that Bill Crook posted late last week when he attended on of Brad's shows. The Stingray nameplates are there. However, there are 2 or 3 Category 5 amps in the rack as well. No doubt these are a substitute for the Marshall as he changes things up....like he always does !
