I been looking for a amp to replace my Heavy Vibro Kings. I have had several great amps in the past including quite a few Z amps. However I would always gravitate back to the Vibro King it just has that huge 3D like tone thats moves a lot of air kind of like surround sound. Mainly because I play in church and sometimes its like we are packed up like sardines up in there in real close quarters. So I need an amp that I can hear good and also feel. Sometimes I amp right up against my amp. When I first heard about the Z-lux it really got my attention because it has many of the same features as the Vibro King. I would even search up alternatives to the Vibro King but really the ones that people would mention like the Vibro Lux was not even close to the Vibro King. So I was pretty much at the point where I was like man I wish someone would build a amp that was lightweight and could get me that sound. Then Dr. z came in and he was an answer to my prayers. Not only does the Z-lux get that tone but it even gets it better. It even sounds bigger the the Vibro King. It cuts through the mix better too. We had a revival last night and one of the deacons said he could hear me in the outside office at the church. Thats how articulate and pristine this amp sounds. Its clear as a bell. Real warm and organic better then my Vibro King ever sounded. As a matter of fact I sold my Vibro Kings and the Z-lux is my main amp now. It blew the Vibro King away. You can feel every note popping off the fret board. Its a big sounding amp. I could get the Z-lux to sound like the VIbro King but I couldn't get the Vibro King to sound like the Z-lux. The Z-Lux is way more articulate and cleaner sounding then the Vibro King. It just really out shined it in every way possible. Bigger is not always better and also higher wattage is not a factor either. The Z-Lux honestly sounded bigger and fuller at 40 watts compared to my Vibro King at 60 watts. Headroom was much better as well. The Z-Lux is a spectacular amp. I finally got to really crank it up last night and WOW! I am still trying to come down. No effects either. Just straight in. Pure tone.
I am blown away that this amp is so lightweight yet sounds like a heavyweight.
Thank you Dr. Z!

Cool to hear your experience compared to Vibro King. I'm curious what kind of tones, style of playing, guitar and pickups you have used with the Z-Lux?

Cool to hear your experience compared to Vibro King. I'm curious what kind of tones, style of playing, guitar and pickups you have used with the Z-Lux? Thanks Sam. I have two Fender Stratocasters one with Fender custom shop 69 pickups and the other has Bill Lawrence pick ups in it. I posted a couple videos in the video section on the Z-lux. I play mostly blues and funk and classic rock. I grew up in the 70's so most of what I have learned came from that era. I like clean tone and that slightly broken up tone. I mainly use the guitar and its knobs to get what I want out of the amp. Thats what I really dig about the Z amps. Once you play handwired amps you get kind of spoiled. Im not a real high gain player. Although I do like fuzz and overdrive.

This Z-Lux has pretty much become my #1. I have a handful of old "Holy Grail" amps, and the Lux can easily hold her own against any of them. Doc somehow recreated the elusive tonal magic of those old amps and bottled it up in the Lux. It's the best amp he's ever made IMHO, and certainly the best amp made since the BF Fenders went out of production.

I couldn't agree more with what's been said about the Z-Lux. Just see some of my posts about it here and other places. I'm an enthusiastic owner. But that doesn't keep me from lusting after the brand new Maz 18NR which I'm going to take delivery on in a week or two...I'm excited, Doc!!!

Gigged all day yesterday with mine. Wow what a tone bell like cleans and just fat warm crunchy lead tone. The way this amp cuts through is amazing. No need for pedals either but it does take pedals extremely well. All I used yesterday was my J rocket archer icon. My Variable boost had a short in the switch its in the shop with Doc but he got me covered. Best customer service around!

All this talk about how awesome the Z-Lux is, is making me desperately want to try one out.
It seems the only way to try one out, would be for me to buy one, or to talk my other guitar player into buying one.
Stop it...all of you!

Okay. I'll just say this. You won't be sorry when you do finally cave in, and you know you don't want your other guitar player to have one. That would be unacceptable...

I bought mine on the Hype. All I can tell you is I am just another satisfied customer. Its the best amp I have had in a long time. Its big and full sounding its sounds HUGE. Its the prefect gab and go. I also like the Maz18 jr. studio. But this amp works better for me because it can go to 40 watts and it moves more air.
