I just joined the Z Lux club. Just awesome. My other Z's were great too but this one seems to breathe more if that makes sense. Less filtering I'm told. Anyway it's a sure winner in the line up. Sounds righteous on its own w/ the boost that will yield some wholesome tweedynish. Being an OD pedal user I have not found one of my current six or so that sounds bad w/ this amp. So far I'm digging the sft by Catlinbread the most w/ it. What's your OD of choice w/ the Z Lux? Thanks doc for this smile maker.

My Z-Lux is the most pedal friendly of my small collection of Z amps. It sounds good with everything but I've recently bought both the Red and Blue Bogner Ecstacy pedals and it sounds stellar with those.

I am using a Fulltone 69 fuzz a Ramble Fx marvel Drive and a J rocket archer Icon. The icon really fattens up the germanium fuzz and also the Marvel Drive.

As you noted, the Z-Lux plays well with lots of ODs. To date, I've used/am using a Z Drive, Xotic SL, RYRA Klone and a KoT v4. I've had some others plugged in, but it was to compare them with the aforementioned group.

Wampler Dual Fusion. We play country so each side is set for a little different flavor of low gain. I'm using a 2008 version American Standard strat and a Suhr Classic Pro T.

I think the Boost on the ZLux covers many bases, it's perfect. Anything left over is covered with the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret in front of it. It just about turns the Zlux into a Marshall Superlead and the boost still gives it the same dose of extra kick!! For extra nastiness, I use a Malekko Bassmaster.

It's pretty OD friendly--it likes my Jet Drive and GS124 a lot; also the Velvet Fuzz. Some gain/tone adjustments might be required--especially for more aggressive pedals. The Lux's front end is a bit hotter than either of my other current Zs, obviously. The Lux sits pretty nicely in terms of headroom--nice natural breakup straight in if you want it, but doesn't freak out when driven with pedals. Also, the variable boost is terrific--much better than I expected.

sounds to me like most overdrives sound good, that's because the amp's stellar! I have had About 14 months w/this gem.

The only pedal that I use is a Whitfill DUI pedal. This thing is killer and sounds amazing with the amp. Well worth the wait time and money from Whitfill.

Joe Walsh's statement that it's the best amp he has ever used I believe. For me granted there are many fine amps and I have owned a few. This one just takes the cake for being so versatile and still sounding stellar.

I forgot to let ya'all know how the Barber Gain Changer works with the Z-Lux. Seriously, it stacks beautifully with my Wampler Euphoria and other pedals, but it doesn't need to be stacked in the first place. Still, if I need a little volume boost the Euphoria does it well and quietly. The Z-Lux, set on the edge, goes ballistic with the Gain Changer kicked in. Sounds beautiful.
