I posted this problem in the "Tubes" section as well, but haven't really received any feedback yet on what may be causing this - so I'm posting here as well.
Here's what happens. I turn on the amp, let it warm up, take it out of standby, and everything is perfect - for 5 minutes or so - and then the volume suddenly drops by about 50%.
It would seem this is heat related.
Any ideas or suggestions on what this could be?

Have you tried replacing any of the tubes yet? Could be any of them really.

I don't know if this is the issue, but anytime one of my amps start acting funny, a new rectifier tube usually takes care of the problem.

I just had the same problem with mine. New power tubes took care of it. That's usually the primary cause of volumn drops.

My Stingray will do that if any one of the tubes goes bad. Consequently, I've learned to keep extra's of each kind in the gig tool box. Mostly it's been the 12AX7 being the culprit.

David, did you ever figure out your problem?

OK, I replaced the 12Ax7 and the problem did not go away. So I replaced the four EL84 tubes and the problem did not go away.
Any suggestions?

last tube to try is the rectifier...... If that don't fix it, it sounds like it may need to go to the shop.

Had the same problem but all new tubes (including a new ef86) and the problem went away. It never hurts to retube the whole thing. It would be nice to have a tube tester of some kind so one wouldn't have to swap each tube at a time to find the culprit.

I've replaced every tube in the amp - and the problem is not fixed. Guess its time to send it back for repair.

The problem has been fixed. It was a leaky final coupling cap. The amp tech changed both final coupling caps with matched types. Jammed on the amp last night for an hour with no trouble! The amp was modified as well - which I'll talk about in another thread.
