Not sure what that is - I just looked - I did NOT know Tone Tubby made cabs! Wow, they have some cool stuff there. That 2x12 vertical looks a lot like a Z-Best. I confess I don't know a thing about their cabs, but I sure like the Tone Tubby in my Maz Jr. Nice flat sounding speaker. I think for the Stang Ray I prefer the crunch and mid punch of the Celestion Alnico Blues though. Or for a single speaker, I really enjoy my Celestion Alnico Gold with the 'ray. YMMV

Congrats, your going to love it. I saw that one the bay, it caught my eye because I had never seen that color combo before. I think we ought to keep a thread going in hear to keep us from competing with each other on the bay, maybe keep the prices down a bit. Anyway, have fun with it "cowboy4play"

But I'm still gonna find it hard to sleep tonight! it'll be here tomorrow!! I really went out on a limb buying without playing first...hope I'm gonna like the ray....The RX ES was too bright with a gold i tried....We'll see soon!

Well it's here!! WOOHOO!!!! everything looks good no dings or tears....Looks like it has been retubed with GT #4s, Dario EF86, JJecc83 PI. Question there is a piece of shrink tubing around the top of the EF86 is this normal? maybe for vibration or something? Pulled the chassis the tape says made in 7/28/06 signed by JP tape below says Fat (291) * 8-11 assume fat sound guitars Man i think i'm coming down with an eye problem--just don't see me staying at work today!

Oh yeah, I can feel your fever all the way over here! That shrink is standard fare on many EF86's from the Doc. I'm not sure if it is for vibration dampening or what.

The shrink tubing is normal on the EF86, to control microphonics. The newer ones use tube rings, which look a bit nicer, IMO.

OH MY!!!!! just got home and this thing kicks some serious butt!! After playing through the RX ES I really thought this amp was gonna be too bright...
plugged it in to my 64 bandmaster cab with Oxfords and playing with the volume at 3 plugged the Tele straight into the LO input with the tone and cut at noon this is the timbre I've been chasing!!
Going tomorrow to my amp tech and trying out a bunch of speakers..can't wait to get a new cab so i can turn this mutha up! (don't want to hurt the 64s) maybe a set of golds just might be in order..or Tone Tubbys or....Oh man i'm not gonna sleep again tonight!!
I'm gonna go play I'll report more later ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well went to my amp techs shop and tried every speaker in just about every combination i could think of The Tone Tubby ceramics were nice but just didn't have the snap i was looking for. the closest speaker combo that almost won out was the V30 and the g12h. I didnt try the blues only because i don't want any speaker break up and those will. The golds won out!! man that was the first time i have heard those things and like you said Benttop they were magic! so I'm picking up a red 2x12 semi open back Tone Tubby cab with C-Golds tomorrow and it's debut will be this weekend! Can't wait.
