Hey fellas',
It seems that most of you cats appear to be running single coils into your Stangray...and I was just wondering (since I use an SG) what some of you may think about using this amp with HB's?

I haven't used mine with HB, but with P-90s it's absolutely KILLER. I think Benttop has some clips of his HB-equipped PRS, and the stang simply kills with them. See if you c an find the clips at Steve's site: www.strayca.comjustin

Thanks for the info guys....and for the clips Benttop.
I'm just trying to figure out what the best Z would be for me. I use an SG....and I like a lot of headroom...I tend (most of the time) to play REALLY clean...some hair (Blue Jean Blues) would be nice to. I thinking that if I can get a really warm, sustainful...shinny sound...I can use pedals to dial in a little variety...for gigging.
And thoughts on this? Or what you all might think would be the Z for me?

I did a gig with an ES-345...not overly impressed. May try my PRS this weekend. I'll let you know how it sounds.

I have to admit I like the single coils better with the Stingray. But I don't really have a "great" humbucker guitar, and that could be the story there. I played a Les Paul last week that took my breath away - I would have loved to try it with my Stingray but it wasn't there. Had the GT with me instead. But none of my humbucker guitars are even close to that "special" Les Paul I played.

I prefer SC's for attack....but my McCarty sound fantastic through the Stang-Ray. I just have to bump the cut up 1 or 2. Normally I am at 3-4 on the cut and 4-5 on the tone with my Single coil guitars.

I did a gig with my PRS Custom 22 and it sounded great! I took my trusty strat just in case but never had to take it out of the case.

When I tried out the Stang, I tried it out with my 335 and a nice Les Paul in the store and loved them both. Sounded fantastic enough that I ordered a Ray yesterday.

Just did a gig playing classic rock and a bit of country with a stock '57 re-issue Les Paul. Was amazed at the great tone. I thought this was just a single coil amp...I was wrong. I used a Barber Tone Pump, a Hot Cake and a Keely Katana

Doesn't that void the warranty though?

I've been gigging as well using the Stang-Ray, Zendrive, Keeley BD2, Keeley TS-9 and G-system, with my standard Carvin DC127 as my main guitar, and two Carvin TL60's as my 2nd & 3rd guitars. The Ray sounds great with the 24-pole Carvin humbuckers. MeZa

I gigged an LP Classic into a Stingray last night and loved it! This is completely new for me, and what a nice change. Only pedals were a comp set real low, and BB pre amp. Never had to change guitar volume at 6, just picking attack and OD pedal took care of that. Total simplicity!
