Just curious...... I just got my Stangray today and I've heard everything about how good of a "clean" amp these were, they're right!!
But - Where does your amp start to "break up" at?? Anything at 4 and above I start getting some grit and it just gets more "better" sounding grit the the more I crank it.... (Yeah, my 5 year old son taught me that phrase).
Does 4 sound about right? I've got Lindy Fralin Blues specials in my tele.

That's probably pretty close to reality. I run mine at about 6 when I want some nice bluesy breakup. But if I want pristine clean, I take the Airbrake out of the circuit, plug into the low input, and keep the volume below 6. That's the CLEEEEN ZONE. Oh, I'm using Fralin Blues Specials too.

Sounds about right to me too. I use mine with Voodoo 60's in my strat and a Lollar Special in my Tele, and it starts breaking up at about noon on the dial. Maybe a little sooner with the Lollar, but not much.

I can't stand to be in the same room with my amp past 9:00, using the Lo input!
I'd have to play an outdoor gig to get any real breakup.

Hey, that's what the airbrake is for, right? I'm beating my ears to death playing mine that loud, so an airbrake is probably in my future. But these amps sound so good cranked up like that it's hard for me not to jack em' up that high.

I just put beam blockers on my Z cab and played it with my Ray..... On the hi input, it now breaks up around 2 1/2-3 or maybe I just notice it more. On low input, it breaks up around 4. This is when I really dig in with the bridge pickup too.
Is that possible that I just notice it more?
