Today, I turned on my Dr. Z Maz 18 combo amp as normal. When I turned standby off, the amp crackled for about 5 seconds, then it just powered off. It will not turn on at all. The power light does not turn on. I looked at the fuse and it doesn't seem to be blown. I tried a new power cable. No luck so far. Any recommendations?

Most likely the rectifier tube blew. The fuse may appear OK yet be blown as well. Other possibility is a power tube blew and took out the fuse. In either case , it's guaranteed it's a tube issue.

Thanks!!! I'll get new fuses and a rectifier and just go through the "troubleshooting list."

Sanman,
Those symptoms are very similar to the way my Maz Jr was acting. I purchased a new rectifier tube and a pair of el84's from KCA. The amp is working wonderfully now.

I would think at a minimum:
New fuse New rec tube New el84 (you should have backups of all of these anyway)
The smaller preamp tubes are probably fine.

I had a similar issue. No crackle, amp was just dead. Replaced the fuse & all is ok. I just replaced all the tubes about a week prior to it happening.

Yes, first I replaced all of the tubes, then about a week later the fuse blew. So I replaced only the fuse at that point & is working ever since.

Ok. It's a power tube. I changed the fuse and the rectifier tube. The amp turned on and there was a loud popping/crackling noise. One of the power tubes was lighting up and flickering very brightly. I took out that tube and plugged in my guitar (just using one tube) and the amp is working. I will order new power tubes. Is it damaging to use one power tube in the Maz 18? I played it for like 30 seconds with one power tube then unplugged the amp.
