So, since work at UPS I had the privilege of snagging my amp first thing this morning, after my doctor appointment. And, since I had the day off, I have had opertunity to play my new Z-Lux. Since I had ordered this amp without playing it first I was a little nervous. All I had were videos and reviews to go by. Well, now I get it. I get why it has won awards. I get why everybody is in love with it. Most of all, I get why I hadn't found a used one. It seems every new Z amp that hits the scene is loved by everyone, then they start hitting the BST section, eBay, reverb ect... Not the Zlux! At least not yet and I can understand why. I played without the reverb on for at least 15-20 minutes. 40w then 20w.. Clean, cranked, and in between.. I liked the sounds I was getting. Like everyone has said before it's very 3D sounding. I got it where I wanted it then turned on the reverb. I'm a reverb junky and most certainly got my fix. I am not however a vibrato junky, but it did sound nice. I just haven't played with it much yet. First impressions: 1. Very flexible w the wattage changes and master vol. 2. Great great reverb. 3. Can get great tones even overdriven tones at a moderate volume level. May have to do with the speaker being rated at 97 or 98 db. (Pretty sure that's what I read) 4. Boost switch is extra usable. The volume increase is just right for soloing.

Awesome news I can't wait to get mine. 3D is the key word I have a good feeling about the Z-Lux!

I was kind of assuming that I was going to jump back in the Z pool by replacing my Z-28 but reviews like this may have me re-thinking. I do miss the Z-28 and I'm pretty sure the Lux doesn't cover the same ground. Decisions, decisions.

I do miss the Z-28 and I'm pretty sure the Lux doesn't cover the same ground. Decisions, decisions. Both great amps for sure. I'm not sure what kind of ground you want to cover but I'm really digging the drive sounds I get out of the zlux. The cleans are great too. But, the z28 had great cleans and dirt too. I can understand the dilemma. Good luck!
