Just got back from Alpha Audio Works in CT. My Red with Black StangRay Head with matching Al-Blue cabinet!! We unpacked and set it up... plaayed it and watched all heads turn... UnEffingBelievable! With the head on no more than 3 and a 51Nocaster RI (is that me?) I ended up doing the stock music store riffs I end up doing, but shortly I put the pick down and played with both HANDS. I've been playing through a Maz 18 Jr. and Carmen Ghia for 5 years but the tonality or whatever the proper tem is, VERY ENJOYALBE to listen to! I have to play with the Cut and Tone as they interact in a much different way than on my Maz 18 Jr. I can't get over what I heard coming out of this thing of beauty!! Anyways I'll keep ya posted but now I GET IT!!! Everybody needs one of these!! WOW!!!
Oh yeah.. .also in my order was a Red Carmen Ghia and an Airbrake... I don't know if I'll need the Airbrake but I bought it in case the Stang Ray was too loud. I think I can find more than one sweet spot volume wise with this amp!

Told-ja! When you get the 'ray into a band context, you might be surprised how loud it is compared to what you're used to. When I got my 'ray, I had been gigging a THD Flexi-50 (50 watts) exclusively, and had been running it nearly wide open. The 'ray holds it's own side by side with the Flexi. In fact, I don't think I've ever got the Airbrake up to the "thru" position in the bands I play in. One cool thing about using the Airbrake though - stick your volume up around 1 o'clock to 2 o'clock - and you'll notice the power amp compression coming on line. It is a thing of beauty!

Congrats!
I'm so happy with my Stang that I just can't really imagine needing or wanting anything else. It's just *that* good.
There are precious few amps on this planet that can do almost anything-- and do it WELL. The Stang might be the lead member in a club of one!
Throw some pedals in front of it and prepare to be in awe.
I've come to realize that with in many cases, the key to starting with great dirty tones is starting with great clean tones.
And since there IS no better clean tone than a Stang Ray (jmo only, of course), you're positioning yourself to get some really happening stuff going on!
Congrats on buying the best amp on the planet:)

Well, I got mine yesterday as well. A red/blonde head and cab with Blues. I haven't got that much time on it yet, so I won't do a review yet, but for now all I can say is how impressed I am with this amp's clean tone. I've been experimenting so much with the varying shades of clean that I haven't even hooked up any of my dirt boxes yet. And yes, this amp is loud, but it is by far the easiest loud on the ears that I've ever heard. Talk about smooth. More to come later.
