Just saw one of our Z bros wanting to buy a Rt 66 head. Made me feel all sentimental about the one I once had. And for that reason I avoid reading post about them like the plague.
Sure wish I had it back. Man, that was a great amp and it had some special mojo going on with it as others here on the forum that also owned it could testify. It just ended up being way more amp volume-wise than what I needed. You know, sometimes it just shouldn't really matter. I should have hung onto it anyway. What a dope.
It was a red head. The covering was somewhat marred here and there from the many miles that had been put on it by a host of others before me. It was THE Rt 66 of all Rt 66's. I got it from Z bro Curt. I don't recall who had it before him. Shannon maybe (for some reason that popped into my head)? And it has a bit of a Paul T story with it as well. He contacted me about it right after I listed it on the BST section. We pretty much had sealed the deal and then another forum member made it known that he wanted it. Paul, in his kind heart, ended up sending me a PM saying that although he really would like to have it to go ahead and let the other forum member have it. And so it went to the other guy.
Anyway, if you made it this far in my post, I'm sorry for all the rambling. Pretty much a post full of nothing, that means little to anyone but me. Just got me reminiscing about that period of time, how awesome that amp was, how much I miss it, and how much I wish I had it back. The Rt 66 is definitely a great amp, one of THE greatest ever in my opinion, and that one in particular was extremely special. Long live the Rt 66!

Mine is way more volume than I need as well, but I can't seem to part with it. My favorite amp with a telecaster as it really thickens the tone. The AirBrake helps a lot but it still puts out a lot of volume. A great amp for sure.

I don't think I've had an opportunity yet where I could run mine without using my brake lite, even on larger outdoor stages. Luckily the brake lite seems to work really well with it. Between all of my amps it would be the last one I'd want to sell.

Milkshake thick tone is the kind of description I've always been drawn to...

A post of great memories and a longing for that tone. Nice post.
