No,not GM.That was Ernie Ball/Music Man .Everything worked out for both parties at the end though.

Ernie Ball had a problem with it. They have a electric bass guitar by the same name. I can't decide, do I want a Bass or a clean guitar amp? What a conflict! I just imagine competing sales, with these two different items.

I think it's a shame too. Bass guitar buyers and Guitar amp buyers are pretty different groups.

I still can't see the need for EB/MM to have Doc change the name of his amp.It was not called for,JMO.

In another thread Dr Z said they had a nice talk about it and Z changed it as a proffessional courtesy.

then what about the Mantaray? That name was on the website for a while until it became the Stangray. Are there any Dr. Z Mantarays out there?

Even though I have a Stingray, in the end I wouldn't care what you called it. It's all about that magical sound.

Imagine if Mackie came out with a new mixing board called the MAZ Series; such a decision would warrant a phone call.
