Hey guys, I'm looking to make a new amp purchase. i was wondering if the ezg shares any tonal ground with the zlux. Also will the zlux get into srv, Mayer, type tones. Any input will help. Thnx in advance.

I had an EZG head and a Maz18 jr before getting a Zlux. I still have the Maz and the Zlux. The EZG sounded great but just wasn't what I was looking for. To me the EZG had a huge, thick tone, but lacked the sparkle and presence that the Zlux has. I was looking for a Blackface Fender type glassy sound which the Zlux delivers . The EZG was super loud and had a great reverb, but no tremolo, boost switch or power reduction switch like the Zlux. I also think the Z-lux takes pedals better and sounds better at bedroom levels. It seems like the Zlux sounds good no matter how you set the controls whereas the EZG required lots of tweaking to get the right tone dialed in. I am still getting used to the Zlux after two months but the bond is complete and I like it more every time I plug in. I had the pleasure of playing a 4 hour gig with it last Saturday night , and found myself using the tremolo on nearly evey slow song, its just that damn sweet! The first half of the night I had the amp on full power with great results. The second half, I switched to the 20 watt setting and upped the volume and got the nicest crunch that was responsive to pick attack and the guitars volume knob. I guess you could say I REALLY like this amp! Oh Yeah.....SRV and Mayer tones are most definitely in the Zlux

Sweet! I'm most likely gonna be getting one. Something tells me there is something special about this one. Also, I haven't seen a used Zlux anywhere for sale. Seems like ppl are holding on to the zlux pretty tight.

I own and love an EZG, but haven't tried a Z-Lux--though it's on the list, for sure. You'd think they'd have a fair amount in common, both being based on Fender circuits. As you know, the EZG is an amp with some serious authority that can totally nail those SRV tones; I imagine the Z-Lux would be to the EZG as a Deluxe is to a Twin or a Super, roughly speaking.

I can't compare the z-lux to the Ezg but comparing it to my Vibro King the z- lux pretty much can do everything my Vibro King can do but better. The tremelo is the best I have ever heard. The only thing the Vibro King has on the Z-lux is it has those three speakers so it sounds fuller when your right up against it. It moves more air. Not that the Z-lux fails in that area it also sounds full and 3D like. I have to admit the Z-Lux is a special amp.I giggled mine all day Sunday and in the 20 watt setting it just sounded spectacular real nice crunch and clean tones. You know a amp is great when you don't even want to use pedals with it.

My Z-Lux sounds purty spectacular when I set it on top of my open back Z 2x10 cab and run that combination. 2 tens and 1 twelve sound great! But I really don't need that kind of pants-flapping air movement in the band I'm in right now. The Z-Lux combo as it is sounds so full and juicy that it blows my mind every time I play it. My other Z amps are getting played less and less...I love them but the 'Lux just does everything so well. Doc really out did himself this time! I totally understand why Joe Walsh says it's his favorite amp ever.

They pack us musicians in like sardines. Still the Z-lux does sound very full I totally agree. I can't imagine what it would sound like in a Z 4/10 cab. Probably like a super on steroids.

Hi guys! This is my 1st post. I'm a long time Z owner and I currently have an EZG. I bought it to capture that SRV "El Macombo" tone, and it does it in spades. However, I rarely play it out because of its size. (I have the head, 410 Z cab, and Z brake) I gig with a Friedman BE. Anyways, I too have been very curious what "ground" they have in common. It'd be neat to hear someone A/B them while playing some Stevie licks.
