Has anyone else had to replace the cooling fan in there SR? If the amp is set down too hard the fan blades come loose from motor housing (thanks UPS!).

I use pretty expensive Needle baring fans with 115 CFM circulation, with extreme low noise. Very expensive metal framed fans, but not UPS proof. DR.Z

this was my experience: when i got my 38 2/12 combo, i turned it upside down to change out a noisy preamp tube, when i turned it back upright, the fan didnt work, so i turned it upside down and then upright again,, the fan must have fell back into place (blade or other) and it started working and i never had any problems with it again.

I had to replace the fan in my 'Ray #38...was just noisy...I called, explained the problem, was afforded an apology, although it was not needed, as Dr. Z does not make the fans...in any event, I asked if I could get a new fan and just install it myself...This was fine with them and they said they were going to ship one out to me that day, and if I could return the defective fan to them, for I assume, credit from the mfgr. They did as they said they would, I did as I said I would and that was the end of that...in the big picture of things, pretty much a nothing problem....great amp, great service, outcome as desired....it don;t get a whole lot better than that.... Being in business myself I have seen high end parts fail with no apparent reason, and sometimes that is the reason...they simply failed....so I don;t get excited over problems of this nature....its just the way it goes some time....the real quality control is the support after the fact....No problems there...

I figured it was just UPS handling of the amp. Love the amp (I have 4)! Like I wrote, I've had to replace two and was wondering if a backup would be proactive when giging. Looks like I'm OK not. P.S. changed topic title
