When? Tomorrow, all day long.
Where? In my living room, Paris, France.
Rules? Well, you know the rules, don't you? I guess rules 6 and 7 may be especially appropriate here...
Prize? A place, I mean "the" place, on my new and only Nano+ pedalboard (already filled with a Origin Cali76 Compact, TC Electronic Polytune Mini, Wampler Velvet Fuzz and Strymon El Capistan).
Contenders? Dr Z-Z-Drive (you knew that, right?), Lazy J Cruiser Deuce and a duo: Rockett Archer ikon + Xotic EP Booster.
So, what's your bet?

Hmmmmmm....I've got some cash to put down on the neighbors and how long it takes before they are banging on your door I'm hoping the Z Drive and it's split personality shines thru just like Tyler Durden did. Sounds fun. Wish I was there to witness it.

It's gonna be a day for dB at Easyrom's place today...I bet you're gonna love the Z-Drive. It's certainly the most versatile drive pedal I've got. And into the Z-Lux it really sounds great. When is your Z-Lux due to land? It should be included in this shootout as the go to amp...

When is your Z-Lux due to land? It should be included in this shootout as the go to amp... That was a fun afternoon! But you're right: I'll have to do it all over again into my Z-lux, which should be here at the end of October or beginning of November... Today, that was all into the Maz 8. I confirm your guess that the Z-Drive is by far the more versatile of the three options I had on the floor today... but I'm not sure versatility is what I'm after. I mean, I'm no professional and I just play the music I like and it only goes from blues rock to pop music. So I found myself never really use the red side of the ZD, even if it does sound really cool. Don't know. Need more time to decide. One sure thing: these three options are the greatest I have to choose from for quite a while!

Keep 'em all on that board. If there's room.

Keep 'em all on that board. If there's room. There's no more room! Or should I send back the Nano+ and get a Metro 20? I like the idea of a small and straight to the bone pedalboard, but it's so hard to choose between great pedals!

I've got a PT Mini. It's presently got a tuner, the Z Drive, a delay and a Rockbox Boiling Point on it. Plenty of room for one more pedal.
I recently pulled a few ODs off the shelf and ended up preferring the Z Drive. It is very transparent, and the eq section is very versatile.

Sounds like you'll have a lot of fun looking for a new pedal to fill that room! I've played a lot these days and I took my time to compare my good old Lazy J Cruiser, Z-Drive and duo Archer ikon + EP Booster. For the last days, I confess I have tons of pleasure with the Archer + EP Booster. The EP is almost unity gain, almost last in chain (just before delay) and always on. It gives a nice presence and a touch of thickness and it makes my fuzz shining. And the Archer ikon has this low miss thing, you know... I'll take a few more days to think about and try things, but my initial point was to keep only the pedals that would find their place on the Nano board. ;(

I thought the first rule is you don't talk about fight club.

Get a bigger board... having multiple OD options is very rewarding and worth it. Why restrict yourself?

Very true, good point... How do you like your Starplayer III? Very much! Great guitar. Feels really reliable and sounds great. Did I mention the great tremolo?
