I found this in my Carmen Ghia that I recently purchased. I think it's a 12AX7 butt am not sure. Possibly an RCA black plate? Again not sure. Can anyone ID it? There is no silk screening or marks on it. Thanks, Scott

Probably a 5751 that wore off the markings...NOS prolly. They are usually in the phase inverter position also known as V2

I agree with Simpleton... Most 12ax7's, especially RCA's, have a wide "ladder," and more of a primer color/texture on the plates. I've seen a LOT of 5751's with the smaller ladder and this glossy appearance....

Thanks. So if I swap it out for a 12AX7 I should get more gain, correct?

Thanks. So if I swap it out for a 12AX7 I should get more gain, correct? Yes...but the 5751 sounds better to me. I think the new ones are all 12ax7's....my old green jewel light Ghia had the 5751 and I preferred it to the 12ax7. Have fun with that amp...
