Anybody using one? How the heck do you open the battery door on the back? Afraid of braking this thing, which is expensive for a clip-on tuner.

Don't recall a problem inserting the battery on mine. I just put my thumb nail in to release the catch and then just pryed it up with my nail. Works very well but poly mode a bit erratic on fender head stocks just need to make sure it's clamped on fully onto the rubber stop. Works fine on acoustics and the larger Gibson head stocks. Handy tool.

Thanks--yeah, my wife popped it off with no problem. Of course.

I picked up one of these last week and that little trap door was a booger. I have a couple of the black Snarks for my acoustics and they work fine. When I bought my mandolin a few months ago, I noticed the Snark was not quite fine tunable enough for the double unison strings. I did a little research and the TC was recommended. It is, in fact, much more accurate at getting the two strings the exact same pitch. Nice little unit. Solid build AND....it works great on guitars too! I've only tried the default setting. Tried the Poly or Strobe settings Jon??

^^^^^^ Yes it does but see my comment above with smaller fender head stocks. Just need to make sure good contact for poly mode. I am using mine all the time on all guitars just for convenience but have an original polytune on my board.

I like to have one in the case for each of my acoustics (otherwise I forget to bring them along to jams or whatever), so thought I'd try the TC. Pluses--the readout's super bright, it locks on fast, very easy to read, dead accurate. The only minus: that crazy trap door is a challenge for those of us who are thumbnail deficient. Haven't tried it with an electric--I like pedal tuners. Haven't tried any of the alt modes, either--good with the default. In all, an 8 out of 10 for functionality. Not sure it's worth almost twice the cost of a Snark, though.
