I love the water guitar.........that was almost the basis for my build Why ash over say alder or another kind of wood? i took the water guitar as the inspiration for my last build too. Except I flipped the colours to red and white...kinda like a lava guitar instead of water...lol and it's made from the super lightweight Paulowinia wood. Bill said its light as a feather! Simply based on weight after discussing it with Bill. I originally had spec'd alder since it was smoother and easier to finish. However, Bill said not to worry about that as a little extra TLC of filling/sanding would take care of that....and that's his job! I knew about the Paulowinia but never considered it an option. I kind of considered a light one-piece Swamp Ash body to be very similar, I guess. Funny about the red 'lava' guitar......If I had gone with a 'water' style guitar it was going to be red instead of blue! I went with the new black/white pearl print to try something different, especially after Bill had posted a picture of a red one just about the time I was finalizing my build order. The red sparkle guitar is neat too since it reminds me of the animated movie 'Cars' soundtrack album cover.....which has a couple of my favourite Paisley tunes on there! p.s. I just went back and looked and the red 'lava' guitar I saw seems to be yours! Looks great!

I'm excited to finally be able to settle up on it here and get that thing home...
Ironically enough, I chose red because to me it represents canada...I eventually was to get a graphic designer to redo a paisley pickguard and incorporate a maple leaf into the paisley design. I think it would look awesome! When it came to the Paulowinia body, I wanted something different...some unique and Brad has said many times that it's probably the best feeling and sounding crook he's ever played and that was good enough for me.

Yeah, I wanted something a little different so that's why I went with the new print (I know eventually there will be more, but for now it's different). I also wanted the rib contour. I have it on my Tele Plus and love it. I also went with a roasted figure maple neck just for something a little different too. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. im not sure what Greasy Groove pickguards can do for you on the maple leaf paisley front.....you might want to check it out. is the red sparkle to only guitar Bill is building for you now or do you have another in the mix as well?

After the red sparkle is paid for...I'm back to the drawing board with something totally AWESOME. JUst to give you a hint, it will be a Les Paul type with a few tell features...with a print that looks pretty close to yours but worry not...it will be a lot different lol

Popped onto Bill's website on New Years Day and noticed his newest 'work in progress' picture. The one in the middle has pearl white sides and that's not an option most people go for. I made a comment that it could be mine and Bill acknowledged with a 'thumbs up. So, looks like my build is well advanced and I like the look so far. Looking forward to seeing more pics pop up from here on out!

Very nice Keith. Maybe another 2 months? Thanks Bill That sounds about right. I suspect the picture is one of the first top coat sprays to seal the paper. There will be a small black pinstripe binding around the top too. It should be interesting as I went with a painted back as opposed to the paisley paper. I wanted a rib contour so I opted for paint on the back. The one thing I like from the picture is how the pearl white sides really make the pearl white under the paisley print really stand out.....that's what I was going for. There will also be a baked figured maple neck on this one so it should be interesting to see how that turns out. I wanted to order something a little different than most paislies out there and I think this will work just fine.

Thanks! It's part my 50th birthday present and part of a reminder of my childhood (my Mom died last Fall and my Dad moved out of our hometown to where I live now). My Dad sold our house and was adamant that I take some $. I told him the only way I would do it if if I ordered a Crook as a keepsake and reminder of my Mom and our house.

Thanks for sharing. I hope you get some more progress photos to share. The Avatar photo is worthy of matting and a nice frame.

FYI, I ordered my crook on May 29, and I took delivery of it last week. Just over 7 months... I've owned a ton of teles, and the only thing that has rivaled this guitar was another crook.

Nice choice on the level of aging there ! I ordered mine late June and I suspect it may be ready next month in time for my March 7th birthday (which is the target date I aimed for).

Well, my Crook is done. Bill sent a couple pics but I'll get better ones when I receive the guitar. The guitar needs to be polished, etc...but I think it looks neat. Bill was really impressed how it turned out. It was something a little different from the norm for him. The baked flame maple neck is neat ! I like it and I'm sure it will look better in person.

Oh that's really purdy, Keith! I bet you're dying to plug it in. Can we expect a full tone report in the near future? Maybe even a clip or two? Please???

I had never seriously considered a paisley tele before but these pictures ALMOST have me reconsidering the finish on my custom build Broadcaster. I know my builder (Joe Riggio) does a nice paisley as he has a picture of one in his gallery. There are some beautiful pictures in this thread.

My Crook showed up today and I'm not home to see it! My wife and kids took delivery and had the unboxing themselves. Looking forward to seeing this thing in the flesh when I get home later on!
