First, if this post is inappropriate in any way, admins please delete it. I am effectively giving Frankie's music away and if this is totally wrong or if he objects, I apologize and please delete the post. I'm posting this because, with the recent passing of Cleveland Blues icon Bill Miller (aka Mr Stess), I looked for a CD of his I have, but haven't played in years. While looking for this CD, I came across a couple of Frankie Starr CD's from about 20 years ago ... and after playing them again for the first time in many years, I thought 'wow, his playing is fantastic, and I bet the Z forum guys who have become Frankie Starr fans recently have never heard this stuff'. So, here goes. I selected a couple of the tunes I really like. I believe these recordings are before Frankie played Z amps exclusively, although my understanding is that Dr Z - way back when - modded Frankie's amps. See See Baby - Live & fabulous the way Frankie alternates between the clean sound to state the chord and the overdriven lead sound, almost like 2 guitarists playing. Great build on the solo. Masterful phrasing. Jelly Roll - great vocal & guitar Cookies & Milk - great live playing, nice jazz feel kc

I miss Frankie's posts and video. He sent me a pedal or two so I could try before I buy - and he only knew me from some correspondence here on the forum. He's a great guy, I wish him the best, and I pray he is able to continue playing since that is one of his gifts.

Frankie is a naturally gifted guitarist. His playing comes from the heart, and combined with his technical skills, makes him the real deal.

Yeah, Thanks for this KC. Really enjoyed some of the old days seeing Frankie play around town. I remember going to see him play in area bars around 1990 or so, you couldn't move, it was packed like a sardine can. kc

Check out Frankie's playing at the 3:00 min mark to see how a EZG 50 should sound.

Just took ah listen to the tunes...really tasteful playing, right in my wheelhouse. Cookies & Milk is very similar to Tiny Grimes Swinging Mama (which I might add is one of my favorite guitarist and my most studied style)
