Many of you know about my love hate relationship with my Campbell American Transitone. I absolutely love the way it plays and sounds. It is a stellar guitar in every respect. Killer, killer tones and the most amazing playability ever. however, it is surf green and I just could never bond with the color. I always found it distracting... So I thought about selling it and could never pull the trigger...just too good of a guitar to let go. I thought about having it refinished but just seemed too expensive. then I thought about having it decorated a bit to give it more visual interest. So I did a lot of research and discovered that one of the leading hot-rod pinstripers lives about 40 minutes from me in Denver. his work is amazing and he has done all sorts of famous hot-rods over the last 35 years. so yesterday I had to go up on business and took the CA with me to meet "Rody". I showed him a couple of pics and then sat back in amazement as he freehanded a terrific work of art on my guitar. I absolutely love it...

It does look funky ? ......I still prefer the plain look of the original, though !

The guitar is such an amazing rock n roll machine! I cant overstate how well this thing excels at straight-up, in your face, kick-arse rockin' out. but it always felt like I was driving that 50's chevy that struggled to go over 45MPH. I know it sounds stupid but it just always felt a little off somehow.
now it feels like the '55 chevy hot-rod my brother-n-law has in his garage that will scrub the tires off in 3 gears.
it feels right. best $50 I ever spent...

The skill and beauty applied to your guitar is amazing. And for $50!!! Hard to believe the value of art. We guitarists/musicians often complain about how little we get paid, when we get paid! We aren't the only undervalued creators out there. I believe the work on your guitar accents it very well. Often a colour like that has a muting effect when applied in a larger palette. The stripes break it up in a great way and up the cool factor in a huge way. I think it also make the shape of the guitar "make sense" to me. Again, cool. ME

What a fine job he did. The really talented artists blow me away with their skill. Like you just blink your eyes, and he's got it nailed. Congratulations.

I am looking to have a guitar pinstriped locally here as well, but I'm worried about it rubbing off. Did he coat the stripes at all or is it just the one coat of paint? I really like the look of the job he did, I'm looking at 2 colors on a black cabronita Tele Silver and Red (I think) with a mirrored pickguard!

Straight up auto paint on the nitro. He said that unless i abuse it or play the guitar nonstop those stripes won't be going anywhere...

Straight up auto paint on the nitro. He said that unless i abuse it or play the guitar nonstop those stripes won't be going anywhere... if you play it enough that you get a little wear and tear,it just adds character and shows your love for the guitar. And it's cheaper to self-relic.
