Well, with the purchase of the M12 falling through, I did what I should have done all along...I GOT A MAZ!!! Selling my Maz 18 a couple years ago was the worst musical decision I've made in years. It was the perfect amp for me, so I just took it as a sign to get another one.

NICE! I like that color scheme, too.
Such great amps.
Play a Stratocaster? The MAZ is perfect for that. Play a Les Paul? The MAZ is perfect for that. Play straight in? The MAZ is perfect for that. Play with effects? The MAZ is perfect for that. Want to use an alnico speaker? The MAZ is perfect for that. You prefer ceramic speakers? The MAZ is perfect for that. Want to use NOS tubes? The MAZ is perfect for that. Only have current production tubes? The MAZ is perfect for that. Country? The MAZ is perfect for that. Jazz? The MAZ is perfect for that. Rock? The MAZ is perfect for that.
On and on it goes. A testimony to a VERY well-designed amp.
Enjoy the HECK outta that thing! Eddie

Quick question guys...
When I had my Maz previously, I had a difficult time getting it to breakup with the Volume and Master controls at lower volumes. I sort of just took as this amp needs to be cranked. But I saw a video last week where a guy was getting some decent preamp tube breakup with the Volume cranked and the Master rather low. Is this a direct result of using the High Input vs Low Input? I think he was using a Tele.
Pretty interesting since I rarely used the High Input when I had my Maz...maybe I just needed to plug into the High Input?

Turning the volume up drives the pre-amp side and you can get distortion/fuzz/dirt and still use the master volume to control what you get out of the speaker. If I want a cleaner tone, I run Volume between 9 and 10 o'clock and turn the Master Volume up to the room....if I want a dirty tone, I turn the Volume up to at least noon and very often to between 2 and 3 and once again use the Master Volume to get the overall volume to suit the room. You can for sure get some fuzzy sounds with just a guitar and a cable if you run the Volume above 3 o'clock and turn the guitar up, and it doesn't matter which input you use. Try it, you'll like it. Good luck.

Thanks I'll give it a try when it arrives. I just remember not getting much drive from the preamp on my first Maz.

Hi will definitely result in earlier breakup. I highly recommend a brake lite with a MAZ 18, too.

Sweet amp, gitaryzt1985! Looks badazz, and I bet it sounds badazz, too. What speaker ya got in there? It's going to have the stock G12H30. I tried my original Maz with a Cannabis Rex and preferred the G12H30. I've got a WGS ET65 that I'm going to try this time around and see which I like best. I never had any issues with the G12H30 other than a little ice pick at higher volumes.

I like the g12h with the maz...I think doc was spot on with it...run your vol 12-2 and master were you need too I think you should get some grit...

A Gold speaker in that amp is gorgeous too, seriously. I was so skeptical when I first bought a Gold period, but after I installed it in my Maz... my tone was golden. Literally

Did you buy new or used OP? I bought new. After selling my Two Rock, I sort of panicked when I couldn't pick up your M12, so started looking used and from the inventory available on eBay and Reverb, I just figured for the price difference I'd get a new one. When I sold my Maz (new version) they were going for $1250-1350 used. Seems like right now that the used price has risen somewhat to the $1400-1500 range, so I just went new....glad I did.

I was so lucky... Bought my MAZ 18 NR 2x10" new for 1.690€. One week after that the dealer adjusted for the currency exchange courses. It's now 1.990€ and I could probably sell mine used for 1.500€ – not that I would!

Yeah totally understand - again,I apologize about that. But yeah with the price difference that negligible, I would've gone new too. With that said - why did you choose the Maz instead of a M12? And who'd you order from?

The eagle has landed...will put her through her paces and give a tone assessment tomorrow. This should be interesting because it's been almost 2 years since I last played a Maz.

So I gave the Maz a spin last night and it's every bit as good as what I remember. It's amazing how much brighter Z amps are than the Two Rock I've been playing. But that's what I was missing with the Two Rock, the chime and the glassy highs. Right off the bat I'm already salivating at tube swaps, speaker changes, and adding a matching 1x12 to stack for more tonal goodness...you know, all of the stuff that a great amp SHOULD make you want to do...expand that tone! Can't wait to start!
Tone wise the great thing about this amp is the flexibility. It can be everything to everyone. Right off the bat I plugged in a strat and it just melted into the amp. I turned the cut down to 9 oclock, and put the EQ at noon. Just sang. One of the reasons I sold the Two Rock was because it was really fat and muddy with buckers. The Maz is the only amp I've ever played that would allow you to make buckers sound like single coils if you wanted. The amp is bright, but that is a good thing because once you play live, a bright amp tends to sit well in mix.
I've got some WGS ET65 speakers that I'm going to start experimenting with next...can't wait.

Each to there own...glad to hear your assessment of two rock...ive been on the fence about one of those... I could see how if a guy wants that big, fat, juicy, 6L6, bassy clean tone, that the Two Rock would be perfect. It's a killer amp but for what I play, mainly contemporary Christian music and blues, the Two Rock was on the bass heavy side and just doesn't really suit that atmospheric ambient tone that I like.
