The Maz 8 has been getting quite a bit of action at the studio the last few weeks. Yesterday I had to go straight from the studio (recording a guy playing Bach Fugues solo through what I'd describe as an "electric Surf Guitar rig") to a halfway quiet gig that I do with Mark McKay in the back of a bar with one of those Fishman stick PA's. Nothing mic'ed except for the vocals. I brought the MAZ 8 and it was really perfect. The band is bass, drums, acoustic and electric guitar but to keep the volume down we usually play this gig sitting down (it really can make a difference) I had the Brake Lite bypassed but I put the amp in Triode mode. I just sorta eyeballed the settings before we started playing and I never changed them during the gig. Had the MP Deep Blue Delay on for slap the whole time and also the MP Mellow Yellow Tremolo on the whole time. Used the KTR for some louder stuff, mostly just made it thicker. It really sounded great and it was the perfect volume. Brought it home afterwards. I guess this amp hasn't been in the house for a while. Evie was curious.

Nice report, Eric. Which guitar(s)?
I've got to get up the nerve to bring mine to a gig. I always worry that it won't give me enough headroom. But when I bring the Ghia, I always use the Brake Lite. I should challenge myself to go with the MAZ 8 and a different guitar.
I trust Evie is well behaved around grille cloth?

I had my '55 style LP. I have the .001 cap on the volume so I'm always able to get the clean sound that I need. I used the high input. Evie has never scratched anything in our apartment except for her 2 scratchers.

Your volumes are still were you played?... seems like the perfect amp if everyone respects the volume.

Those settings look just about like mine - Triode setting as well, except I will use a Timmy for more crunch with single coil guitars.
What speaker is loaded in it, Eric?

With the MAZ 18 and JAZ (both 2x10 combos for me) I usually have Bass quite low, but with the 8 (Blue) I like it just where Eric has it.

looks as there is enough wiggle room too for a little extra headroom?

While I loved the Route 66 and the Antidote I get a lot more enjoyment from playing my MAZ 8 (and Mini Z). I'm not fighting with the volume like I was. I'm still plenty loud for the places I play. The band still thinks I should turn down some. While I have fun when I "ride the lightning" of the larger amps, the smaller ones allow more control and lit is easier to be more musical within the band. My ears still ring (they don't bleed! (A joke - they don't really...)) and I still rock the joint, just in a more controlled/refined way. I think I need a silk suit! ME

Hey Eric, I was watching a Del-Lords clip on YouTube filmed fairly recently and spied a Z behind you. Couldn't quite make out the logo but figured it might be the Maz8 - you were playing a Les Paul with exposed buckers. Am I right? BTW I'm an Australian, and a fan of Yayhoos and all your work generally.

(Great show, with Spanking Charlene and Jimbo Mathus on the bill too. Eric was involved in producing albums for all the groups.)

We did some west coast dates where I used Scott Kempner's RX Jr. and that was a combo also. If it was from overseas then it was a MAZ 18 head with a cab that I got from the wonderful John Peach at Peach Guitars. Thanks for the kind words.
