I think we can all agree that the Monza can grind, but what kind of experience do you Monza owners have with other tones? I've heard people say it gets "cleanish," I've seen the video of Jim Fogarty, whose tone is bad arse in that video. I'm concerned that if I bought one it would be too gritty/grainy for my taste, but I'm hoping that it I'd be able to work with that. Does it do anything smoother? I really love clean tones with a touch of dirt and medium gain blues tones. Am considering a Monza, because if it could do those, it would cover all the tones I actually use. I have to crank the amps I have to get a rocking tone from them.
Bought a used Mini recently, but it crapped out with a couple days, so I'm shipping it back and getting a refund. Killer amp. Can the Monza do some of the sweeter sounds you get out of a Mini?

I think the Monza does that 50's kind of blues tones with ease...It is cleanish with the drive all the way down but the volume knob is like the first drive and the drive knob is like sustain and thickness. With the master volume it is an awesome amp for around the house or really any setting. I miss the amp terribly as the tone of that amp can not be found in a pedal. The Monza took over as my favorite amp when it was in the house and I haven't quite made up for it's missing sound yet. I used it with a Les Paul w/ P90's. The Monza feels like a big fuzz pedal but it's a 20 watt amp instead.

I too miss my Monza terribly....that said, if you're "concerned that if I bought one it would be too gritty/grainy for my taste" you might consider a Ghia or a Maz 18....

I think you can get a lot of useable sounds from the Monza. I've had mine for about a month and I'm still discovering new tones from her. I've taken it to my jazz band rehearsal and was able to do everything I need with it, and I really thought it would be out of it's comfort zone with jazz. But it worked out great. The drive and volume controls interact with the tone control in a very useable way that makes it really versatile. Plus...there's only one way to make up for selling your Monza, guys...I highly recommend that you BUY ANOTHER MONZA!!! MasterCard and Visa accepted...DO IT TODAY!!!

It's gotta depend on how loud you need those cleans to be. If the mini was loud enough clean, I'd have to think the monza could easily cover the same ground...

I think the key to clean is guitar volume. I keep mine at half for rhythm and move it up for solos. The amp is usually: volume and drive around 10, tone at noon, and master volume 2 to 5, depending on venue.
