I just got one of these in Cobra-Burst. Love it so far. My bad back loves it too at only 6 lbs.
Anyone else try the 2015 yet? Unpotted Burstbuckers sound great...a little problem w/ feedback
but only with the LOUD)))))) jam on Wednesday. Gonna try it again tomorrow.

Would love to get my hands on one , I've been looking at them for a while. I like the unpotted idea - is the feedback you get controllable? That was something I loved with the old 'buckers back when. (And you are going to post some pics , right?)

I still have no idea of how to post pics, So for now I'll change my avatar to my ES LP. Yes the feedback is very controllable, except for with My Loud))) jam on Wednesday, I'll let you guys know after tonight. That stage volume would gag a maggot.

I still have no idea of how to post pics So for now I'll change my avatar. Just go to Photobucket, get a free account , upload pics (real easy) from your computer desktop. Then click on the photo you want and select "share", which will give you a few options. Select / copy 'image code" and then paste that into your post. Even easier than it sounds.

At least my old semi hollow G&L ASAT was like that. Cobra-Burst.... , great name for a color.

Since the construction is 335-ish, does the tone fall into 335 territory, or still lean toward a Les Paul?

Cobra-Burst.... , great name for a color. YEAH! I found today after playing with it loud...I turned up the amp and kept my Guitars Volume @ about 5 and no tone lose and the feedback was gone (with BustBuckers 2 and 3 on my both LPs my other solid LP my Volume is at 8). Go figure. Tonight will be the real test at the louD))) jam. Thinking of staring a more dynamic jam. I get a Perfect R9 sound out of my other LP when I drop the Guitar Volume pot to 8. I think its the BustBucker 2 & 3 as my other R9s had 1 & 2. The ES LP is the perfect mix of a LP and a ES-335. Just Sayin' I have a real bad back so I need to make this work. No more standing up w/ 9 pounder. I have been sitting w/ my other LP but find I play much better standing up and need all the help I can for playing better.

Guys,
Here's my experience with feedback, having played a Gibson ES330 since the late 60s into a '67 BF Vibrolux Reverb, a 335 Studio later on and currently what will probably be my last guitars, a Gibson CS336 (semihollow) and two archtop full hollowbodies, a Heritage Golden Eagle and a Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin. The archtops are used in small and large ensemble jazz groups with either a KT45 into a 2x12 cabinet or a CG25Anni head into a 1x12 cab (depending on venue), and the 336 is used for variety jobs into a Z28 1x10 combo with a Celestion Gold.
The feedback issue seems to be ever-present when playing full hollow archtops moreso than semihollows, but I've learned and used a couple of things that can mitigate the problem in both types of instruments. The first is to keep your body physically between the amps's speaker and body of the guitar. When I see a lot of my archtop-playing compatriots playing, their amp is usually to their left rear for this reason and close to the ground (I use an Auralex Gramma). Secondly, diming your guitar's volume control, particularly on a fully hollow guitar, will almost guarantee uncontrollable feedback, so what I do is dial the guitar volume down (archtops halfway or less, semihollows somewhere between 6 and 8) and maybe goose the amp if I need more output. Lastly, for solos, use a boost pedal instead of turning the guitar's volume up; there are lots of good boosts on the market, and right now the Effects part of this board has a discussion specific to boost pedals that has a lot of good information posted.
One last thing though, even if you do all of this, you still have to be careful because every room has different acoustics, so beware.

I need this info, and Turned my amp up and guitars volume down and Vwolla! There it is. My problem ''was'' I like cascading to ODs together at full guit vol, it was to much. Thanks man! Thats where I'll start tonight.

Old Blue will go back up. That one pic does my Denim Blue justice.

Congrats on a cool new guitar. It reminded me of this guitar I got for my brother in law back in 2000 when we lived in MI. It was an Epi LP with F holes that was fully hollow. He still has it and never plays it. If it weren't for the Bozo Burst color scheme I'd be all over it. Here's a pic of what his guitar looks like and it looks like it's still available despite being a "limited edition" on the rear headstock decal. EPI LP hollow

I think your new Gibson is absolutely a knockout. If it sounds half as good as it looks you've got a keeper.

I think your new Gibson is absolutely a knockout. If it sounds half as good as it looks you've got a keeper. I have only played it with a LouD))))))) band 3 times. I is a dead ringer for a cross between a 335 and a Paul. When I get to playing a normal stage volume I'll give my take... At home the tones are very sweet. I play at a jam on Wednesday with a Loud everything so It's hard to hear what my Paul sounds like, but when I do it's a GREAT tone. When I start my new project this thing will be a God-send for me and my bad back.... For now I'll just enjoy the loud jam with the not so dynamic jam. The finish and color is my favorite. even better than my blue flame.

I think your new Gibson is absolutely a knockout. If it sounds half as good as it looks you've got a keeper. I have been playing it now for a couple of weeks. The thing is sweet...tone is a cross between a 335 and my Les Paul. Even with the volume pots 1/2 to 3/4 you still get the same tone. At first I had trouble with feedback at louD))) Volumes, only when using two ODs, but a Z bro (southmusic70) who plays lots of hollow and semi hollows turned me on to; raise the amp at bit and lower the Volume pots. Thanks! This is only when I cascade two overdrives I had this problem...It's gone now. I have a real bad back and @ six pounds it's ''back heaven'' as compared to my 8.9 pound Lester. Don't get me wrong, my Blue Flame is a King of solid Les Pauls, but I'm 63 and looking ahead. Maybe I shouldn't, but I'll still buy green bananas.

When I talk Burstbuckers, I'm talking the non-wax potted Bustbucker 1, 2, and 3 by Gibson. I know they are more prone to feedback. The sound is more harmonically rich than any other Gibby wax potted pup I've tried. I love them and willing to do anything to keep that tone. They are the closest thing Gibson makes to a PAF IMHO. I know there are other brands and great pups out there. If there good enough for Joe Baonamassa they're good enough for me. He's my new fave' for this century. Gibson now calls them MSM something like that.

I have had my ES LP for 6 weeks and just loving the guitar. The tones are not near as dark as you would think. More on the LP side. That said, this is a great new model for Gibby and IMHO as good as they have made for years. I love my Blue Flame solid LP and My ES equally. So I have to keep them both for now. When I can no longer play the solid Les Paul I'll let her go. I just play sitting down between vocals and solos with my 8.9 pounder. Oh yeah, for those who don't know me I have a real bad back. If you want a Les Paul and a ES335 and can afford both...this is it...the Gibson Memphis ES Les Paul.
