I picked up a used EZG 50 a while back. I am really enjoying the amp. I changed all the tubes (except the 12AT7) in the amp back to "stock" based on the Dr Z "Tube Info" section. I have found over the years that usually the brand and type of tubes Dr Z selects as stock usually sound the best.
The 2 12AT7 tubes that drive the reverb tank are "Fender" branded tubes. Of course Fender probably doesn't make the tubes. They just slap their name on them. I don't use a ton of reverb but I was wondering if I would hear a significant change by "upgrading" the tubes to NOS 12AT7 as was listed when the amp was stock.
I don't want to spend money on NOS tubes if not necessary but if it improves the tone, then I am all for it. The reverb sounds great currently but I have nothing to compare it with. If I go NOS, what brands are good? I usually buy from the Tubestore so I know quality won't be an issue.

My 2 cents based on previously owning an EZG and regularly using a lot of reverb when trying to surf. Before you buy tubes, make sure you clean and re-seat all of the connections inside the reverb tank(carefully) as well as between the reverb tank and the amp. Those connections are critical to the signal strength. I didn't find that the tubes made much of a difference once the connections were solid.

Only one of the 12AT7 tubes is the reverb driver. The other is the PI/Power Tube driver. NOS 12AX7 tubes are still easy to find at reasonable prices and will last longer than current production tubes. That alone makes them a better buy. You probably won't notice any difference in the reverb but you almost certainly will like the NOS phase inverter better; especially long term.

my experience in quieting my reverb...put in a jan Phillips 12at7wb...way mo better. That is my go-to tube when I rebuild an amp. I bought 50 of them (all balanced) about 15 years ago. I think you can still find them at a good price.
