I'm needing a delay to run through the loop of my Olde 800 MKII head and like the idea of the pre-set functions....anyone have any love for one of these? chey

DC here! I recently sold my NOVA Delay and got the TC Flashback- the middle model with 4 knobs. It's a very good pedal and easier to get around compared with the NOVA. The delay's seem to be the same one's - TC has always had very good sounding delays No worries on that score. I have just play around very briefly with the looper - it takes some training get the loop to start and stop at the right timing so you dont get a gap between beginning and end - that throws the groove out of whack. That was the only tricky part for me any ways. The delays are pristine very good quality - even the lo fi delay - lols. Cheers: Dixiechicken!

Yep--I've had both the Flashback and the Alter Ego (still on my board); they're both very good. Haven't tried the X4, but I'm thinking I wouldn't mind upgrading to something with preset capability that doesn't require a PhD in engineering to figure out, so the Flashback X4 and Alter Ego X4 are both on my radar. Just bid on an Flashback X4 on eBay, as a matter of fact, but cam up a little bit short.

Quick update: just ordered the Alter Ego X4 from PGS. I've been suspicious because the price dropped a bunch not long after it was released, but this demo convinced me, starting at about 2:25:

I enjoy mine, though as stated before, the tap tempo and loop tap can be a little fussy.
All the delays are pretty good, although I don't think the slap back comes anywhere close to what my Aqua Puss sounded like (nor did I expect it to).
Overall, a lot of bang for the buck!

Yep--got the Alter Ego X4 just about an hour ago and it's a keeper. Some great tape delay sounds (although a mod control would be nice), 3 presets and 4 slots for tone prints if you want to roll your own. Handsome devil, too. All the delay I'll ever need, until the next thing comes along!

Just put in a little more time with with the AE X4--presets are super easy, as are toneprints. For the price (currently $179), I don't think there's another delay on the market that gives you this much bang for the buck--and I don't even need a looper.
