I was browsing the acoustic room at my dealer yesterday and I stumbled across this little beauty. I wanted a guitar for finger-style, etc, and this little Martin had an attractive price and sweet, mellow sound. A nice companion to my HD-28v So, I have a birthday in March....so, a layaway was made.

Congrats on the layaway Keith. Looks like a sweet little thing!
I've been on a big acoustic kick myself lately. Looking forward to the reports~

That is a really nice guitar and very reasonably priced - I bought my brother one last Christmas. Very warm, mellow sound!

I've had 2 of those come through the shop and MAN they are a SWEET guitar. I'm really not a Martin fan (at all to be brutally honest) but these have a certain "something" that really bent my ear. If I had the cash I could totally see myself getting one.
Congrats!!

LOVE mahogany acoustics! This one especially. Just in case you've not had a slotted headstock guitar, check this out BEFORE you re-string it ........... Congrats, Bro!

^^^^ Thanks for this Lee. I'm not sure I would have thought about that handy tip for the headstock stringing before it was too late !

I've had the all Mahogany D-15 Martin of mine for about 17 years now and she needs a refret finally but woo wee the memories of all the songs played on her.....She sounds fantastic after all these years.
The 000 looks too cool. Congrats!

The 000 looks too cool. Congrats! Thanks It's funny, though, since while I was looking through the guitars I noticed that there were two 'OOO' guitars that were slightly different, but still OOO-15s. The OOO-15SM that I picked has the narrow shoulders, 12 fret free clearance and the slotted headstock. However, there was one there called OOO-15M and it looked more like a dreadnaught (but smaller) and had 14 fret free clearance. The neck was noticeably smaller and the guitar a tad brighter/snappier. I would have thought that the OOO designation would have at least given them the same body style/shape. In the end, I went with the 'old school' vibe of the old school OOO-15SM. It looks funkier (IMHO) and had a more mellow sound. Here are both: OOO-15SM OOO-15M

Very nice! Since the band is pretty much done, I's spending more time with my acoustic and I'm gassing for a 000. Thanks for fanning the flames! Those -15's are really great guitars for the money. Bone nut and saddle, ebony bridge pins, and a hardshell case. What's not to like?!
Great choice!

When I finally upgraded my acoustic and settled on a Martin, I really thought that I would come home with the OOO-15M. I ended up with the HD-28V. Now Keith introduces the idea of having both. Hmmm.
Good luck. We'll have to check back in March to see how it's going.

I've always loved the appearance of that guitar. Never found one that spoke to me or I would have had one years ago.

I've always loved the appearance of that guitar. Never found one that spoke to me or I would have had one years ago. I can see that ! I wasn't even looking for a new guitar when I stumbled upon this one. I'm trying to go back to basics get a little more proficient on acoustic (especially finger style) and when I picked this guitar up it just felt right. Even compared to the other OOO-15, this had a fatter, wider neck and is light as a feather and is so mellow compared to my HD-28v. So, I guess this one spoke to me. The price point was great too. Funny thing is that the dealer up here usually has a slight lag on adjusting prices for the CAD/USD fluctuations and the month after I put this on layaway, the price went up $250 (on a guitar that was about $1,400 when I put it on layaway). So, tax included, that means an increase of close to $300. However, my layaway stayed at the lower price. So, the guitar really felt like a steal then!
