I've owned two Dr. Z amps. One was a Maz 18 NR, and the other was a Maz 18 Reverb. I couldn't get along with either one. I really, really wanted to, but I couldn't. The first one was a lack of reverb, the second one was due to the fact that I like my Tone King Imperial more. I'd like to give Z another shot, but I feel like I'm gonna end up being unhappy. I came across a pretty good deal on a M 12 head. I'm a big fan of 6V6 based amps, but I'm looking for something different and low wattage, hence the M12.
Thoughts?

The M12 is unlike many of my other Z's in that it's not nearly as in-your-face or loud. I have mine as a 1×12 with greenback-style speaker and I swear it's like a "better" '65 Deluxe Reverb (without reverb, of course).
Specifically here in the Z-amp community, I think it's a "love it or hate it" kind of amp, but I love it. In fact, for me it's THE amp to just plug in a guitar & play in the house.. with or without effects, etc.

The M12 is a fine amp, but it may not be a fit for you. Here are some questions:
What type(s) of music do you play? What did you feel was lacking in the MAZ compared with the Tone King? Is there a "sound in your head" that you're trying to attain? Do you favor a particular type of guitar?
If you want, post your replies here to get some views on whether the M12 is really something that might suit you.
Added: The Imperial is 6V6, right? Perhaps an EL84-based amp is not your thing.
