With the great PPIMV on the Therapy, is there any use for an attenuator that you could imagine?

I'm using my Airbrake with the Therapy, and here's why: I love what happens to my dynamics when the power tubes are working a little harder. It seems I get just a bit more sustain too. If you look around this forum, you'll probably notice I'm the Airbrake champion - I love it. Set properly you can achieve tones that you cannot get without too much volume. I will say that if I didn't already have an Airbrake, the Therapy's master volume certainly fills the bill. But I do already have it, and appreciate that tiny bit of extra that I get from it.

As usual, Steve says it well. My experience parallels his. If you don't have an Air Brake or Brake Lite already, hold off until you've used the Therapy's MV. If you then really want that "tiny bit of extra" then add the attenuator.

Thanks, guys...I have a Brake LIte that I got used which isn't installed in anything right now. I've been using it with my little Princeton Tweed which is really nice. But it's not permanently mounted in the cab. I'm going to be getting my Therapy out of layaway sometime this week, and I'm just really very happy about that! I have been thinking about getting an Air Brake though, since it would be a cleaner setup with a head/cab style amp. One other question; is the Air Brake "bedroom" setting really that much quieter than a Brake Lite on click 4?

Mv+ airbrake (or brake light) = even more tonescape depending on guitar

We meet in every "about to own a Therapy" thread! ;-) I'm just like you are: waiting for my amp to come and wondering about attenuation. I've found a brake lite that I plan to set inside my cabinet, but I'll wait until I've played with the MV first.

As has been said before, use the MV on the Therapy first, and then decide if you need attenuation. I don't need it, but it can be useful for certain tones. You do NOT need it to generally tame volume.......

One other question; is the Air Brake "bedroom" setting really that much quieter than a Brake Lite on click 4? The bedroom setting goes quite a bit lower, but it also affects the amp's dynamics and tone the most. YMMV. If you check the links in my signature, you'll see I have the db settings for both attenuators in a table for comparison.

Agree, you can get very quiet with the bedroom setting. It does affect the tone but, hey, if you are trying to play that quietly, something has to give. It does its job very well I think.

Have to say, if I need to play THAT quietly, I use something else and save the tubes in the Therapy for gig duties

I stupidly sold this amp when I was regularly NOT getting the volume up past noon and the master up past 11. Makes a HUGE difference. Get the Air Brake.

I just gun it and let the neighbor's deal with it-if i'm playing clean,MV is at 3 30,if i'm playing dirty,MV is at 1 30.Sometimes it's still at 3 30. I use earplugs at work to muffle out the industrial noise, cause i want to go deaf the fun way.
