I did this short song to give an audible example of the sound differences between the Celestion G12H30 & Blue as they sound when driven by the Maz 8. The face of the amp reads V-noon, T-B 2, reverb 3-cut 12:30 M-Noon. The parts were recorded using the h30/blue for rhythm and the Blue for the lead. There's no overdub or effect on the song other than the built in reverb on the MAZ 8 which was dialed lower for the rhythm track and increased for the lead. The same mic was used for both tracks however it was in closer proximity to the H30 for the rhythm and directly in front the blue for the lead.
Info on the site about which speaker is doing what and where to listen for it. Guitar and settings were same for the recording just miked different cabs for each track.
DigiTED- The blue is IMO a great studio speaker. Live it lacks the presence a ceramic has to my ears. Perhaps a pair would augment the lower skinniness I associate with it. That's why I chose to do the rhythm with the mic catching the outside of the H30 Z 112 cab even though I had both speakers running during the tracks recording. The bass tracks tighter and fuller. The lead has a lot of bottom but it sits nicely in the mix without being muddy. This I feel is lost live b/c not everyone can stand where I placed this mic two to three inches from the Z emblem and a little off center. The pairing of the two is really nice but if I had to be practical and make the MAZ 8 a working amp it'd need the H30 inside the SC instead of the blue-but I like it as my studio amp for my house. It has enough cajones to make the room sound great without leaving my ears ringing post jam session.
