I put a set on my SG since I thought it could benefit from the extra treble that they're supposed to bring to the table. I did notice them to be a bit brighter and the feel is basically the same as nickel/nickel-plated steel strings as far as I can recall. Since I don't have problems with acidic sweat I don't really have issues with strings going dead quickly so I can't really speak to how much longer they last. Guitar strings are cheap enough that I generally don't have a problem with trying out different sets to see if there's something there to make me switch from the typical cheaper types, but so far I haven't found anything substantial to make me switch from Ernie Balls or D'Addarios (i.e. whatever is common and cheap).

I did try it on my Gretsch 6120 and didn't like it. Trebly and metallic sounding to me. Can't comment the durability, cause I've changed them quickly. Maybe I would have better impression on another guitar (I think I have a set left).

My son and myself both use the 10 to 52 Cobalts. I love them. They sound good and last longer than the regular strings. I think they are worth the extra money. As always YMMV.

My 2 cents....
They sound great... (to me) Brighter and longer lasting than regular strings. They are "rubbery-er" than an equal gauge of regular strings... ie... 10's feel like 9's...(almost) The intonation settings are NOT the same as regular strings.... you will need to adjust it. (and perhaps your truss rod as well.)
I "like" them....but I don't like them enough to use them all the time. The benefits don't justify the extra cost
When I am recording....yeah...but not for everyday use. (for me)

I used to play them faithfully, then I switched over to Thomastik-Infeld Blues Sliders and like them much better as they are pure nickel and also go into tune immediately and stay in tune and last much longer, I was a faithful Ernie Ball user for 30 years until the last 6 months when I changed over to the TI string line

The cobalts felt like playing cheese slicers on my fingers. After a month they were still good sounding but hurt too much to be useful. I keep pure nickel strings on all my gtrs now bc they are more supple and last fairly long @2-3 mos w weekly gigging.

I've been using GHS pure nickels and DRs since MarkT sent the collings w them when I picked that up from him. The Daddario pure nickels are good, too. I don't have a favorite per se but the GHS have been very stable, long lasting true strings. My LP has a set that has been on almost 3 mos and sounded great the past two nights w 3+hr long shows.

Ive never had any brand of strings stay in tune or last as long as the TI blues sliders

Just ordered a couple of sets of the TIs. Found them for 15% off plus free shipping--$18.69 per set. Still not cheap, but I'll give them a try.

I put a set of Cobalts on a Thinline that I had built. It has TV Jones, wasn't a "dark" guitar, those strings certainly are brighter. I usually use GHS Boomers, or EB Slinkys.
Bright and the wound strings seem rough, as mentioned earlier. They're still on that guitar since last year some time though and are still alive.
I put a set of TI on an acoustic last year too. After months of no play, I pulled it out of the case and barely had to tweak the tuning.

I've been using Cobalts on my gigging LP for more than a year. I've been happy with them. They do seem to hold up better than my old standbys (XL series). Yes, they do feel a little odd at first.

I have them on my TA Cobra. They do feel kinda weird but also sound good. I still prefer Elixirs as they last and sound good to my ears.
