Haven't checked in Ztalk in awhile so I thought I'd share my latest baby. It's a '64 Special with some mods before I bought it. Namely Lollar pickups and a refret. I'm almost sure the Bigsby is not factory but I could be wrong. I took the arm off because I like it hardtail but I haven't brought myself to take the unit off and I like the weight it adds to an otherwise featherweight guitar. I'm a big dude (wide and tall) and I like guitars to hang and not neck dive! I got it in Nashville this summer at Carter Vintage. It belonged previously to Clay Cook of the Zac Brown Band. Cool history! It's the absolute best guitar I own. I LOVE P90s, and I just got into P90s this year. It's the perfect in between of a Tele pickup and a Humbucker. It's got more balls than a Fender, and more twang and chime than a Gibson with humbuckers. I use it all the time now for classic rock and modern country stuff. Can even pull off more traditional country twang.

I dig P-90's for the reasons you mentioned. Man that's a sweet Special! BTW- from what I can make out in the picture , I think the Bigsby could be original. I've seen 'em like that. Congrats!!

That is a great looking guitar, I love those Specials with the P90's, and '64 is my favourite year for Gibsons, largely because of the wider nut and reasonably chunky neck profiles. I have a Strat and a 335 from that year. So yes, I'm envious! Best I can do right now is a 2010 SG Classic; wide nut, meaty neck, P90's, very resonant....but it ain't a '64

Beautiful axe, and you are dead on about the p90's. all the snap of a single coil and all the grind of a HB!
if im not mistaken, clay cook is a Z amps guy too...

Thanks everyone.
Mike - killer SG! Big fan of those. I love Les Pauls too, but SG's are very cool. Big Angus Young and Eric Clapton in Cream fan - it only makes sense that I'd dig an SG.

My main guitar right now is an SG 60's tribute and I really like it! I've always wanted an original!! Your SG looks killer and I'm sure it plays awfully well!!
