Hey all! I think I've decided to go with a Weber Blue Pup Alnico for my Carmen Ghia. I like the idea of the lower db speaker. They make it in a 20 and 30 watt version. What sort of tonal differences should I expect between these two versions?

Great question I'm gonna be watching to hear the answer on this one. I've wondered this too. I'd think you would get more speaker overdrive with the 20 watt but I don't know what that sounds like compared to amp overdrive.

From everything I have gathered, the higher wattage speakers will be warmer. I can't imagine much difference between a 20 and 30 watt speaker, though. Weber's staff doesn't seem to be thorough with answering emails. I've sent a few different ones over the past few days, and only 1 of them was answered.

If you haven't purchased it yet contact this guy. I bought my Blue Pup and Silver Ten from him and got immediate response to emails and fast shipping. I got no response from Weber when I inquired about them and I've been told that after Ted passed away things have gone downhill re communications there.

Cool! Thanks for that. I saw that he stocked some of the Weber speakers but have not emailed him. I will do that now.

I can't imagine there's be much difference. Perhaps a little more/earlier breakup in the 20 watt version. Perhaps a touch warmer. But I bet most people...including me...could not tell the difference.
