I posted my very recently acquired American Vintage 64 Ash body telecaster, in another thread ,which has the threaded barrel steel bridge saddles which very surprisingly are giving very good intonation. I am finding them a bit harsh on the side and palm of my hand where I rest it across the saddles so would prefer to change to smooth polished saddles like the SS Callaham ones(I have the brass enhanced ones on my american special) and I was wondering if these would give much of a different tone to the threaded ones as I really like their snap on the lower strings and bite on the higher strings. Also what are your preferences for bridge saddle materials for rosewood and maple board teles and Ash or alder bodies? After doing a bit of research I know that the change to the steel threaded ones was in the early 60,s, as per the tele I have just bought, but looking around there doesn,t seem to be a definitive for rosewood boards as lots of the higher end custom shop and high end tele type guitars have brass. I have a set of brass non compensated Fender saddles so will give them a try next string change just to see if I can perceive a tonal difference to my ears and would also like to try the mixed sets available with steel for the E/A and brass for D/G and B/E.

my preference with any fretboard and body type is the compensated brass (have callaham's on both tele's)...no enhanced saddle though.
