I'm thinking about coupling my KT-45 head with two G12H Heritage speakers in a 2x12 closed cab (not the 70th anniversary G12H30) . anyone using these speakers? opinions? thanks.

I've heard both the G-12m and G-12H heritage speakers are awesome. I think you would be fine with two H's in a 2-12. in regard to power. I'd be sus on two M's though. The Gold and a G-12H might be another nice combo with the 45 but I suspect I know where you're going with the two h's. Would certainly be beefy.

i have considered the golds, but am not sure if they would be a good match with the KT-45 - perhaps too clear and chimey. as for one gold and one G12H heritage i have always been leery of mixing speakers of different wattages. i know it is common practice these days, but i've always thought that the lower powered speaker operates at peak levels while the higher powered speaker gets underworked, so you really don't get a true blend. maybe i'm wrong. let me know if i am. thanks.

Well, I'm no expert but the V-30 and the G12H in the Z best sound amazing. I've thought the Gold might be a good replacement for the V30 but I don't know how it would sound in a closed back cab and the cab might lose some of it's "quadness"!
I'm definitely not going to mess with my Zbest as it sounds so good as is, but it would be interesting to have another to experiment with it.
I really like the G-12H though, I think two would sound fantastic with the Kt45. That would be the vibe I would go for with that amp but I'm a bit more of a classic rock kinda guy as opposed to the twin keep it clean kinda guys.

i am interested to hear feedback from others, but i'll likely go with two G12H heritage speakers. as tasweigan stated in an ealier reply... beefy. i like beefy. can i get that with a gorgeous harmonic glassy growl please? yep, with the Kt-45 i think so. cheers.

pulled the trigger on the cab yesterday. i ordered a 2x12 closed back cab with G12H Heritage speakers from avatar. it should be here in a few days. i am very stoked and can't wait to take it for a test drive. i'll let you know how it sounds and will post some sound clips as soon as i can figure out how to do that.

well, i got the cab today and am a little disappointed. i am hoping that the speakers just need to get broken in. the sound is very flat and thin with little low end response - nothing like these speakers are supposed to sound. when i plug the KT-45 into my jcm 800 2x12 combo with vinatage 30s the tone is very sweet indeed. any opinions? i've never had a new cab (always bought used). is this normal for speakers to sound flat and unresponsive right out of the box? thanks.

I've never played through a g12h but if the speakers are new they need a good 15 hours or so of playing at club levels before the cone loosens up. Give them a chance, they could end up being a really good choice. If not, getting rid of one and adding a V30 could be the ticket. The V30 is definitely a more modern sounding rock speaker if you want that big low end thump. If its chimier rock combination you want, a weber blue dog/silver bell alnico combination would do the trick. I've got those in my Maz Invasion and they are an excellent combination.30 watts each in alnico would make an interesting combination and give you earlier breakup.
By the way, what colour tolex/grill cloth is your KT45? have you posted any pics of it yet? It is one of 2 Z amps I have been thinking about buying next for quite some time now.

groovergeorge, how right you were. i've only got a couple hours of playing time on the G12H speakers and i already hear a big difference. the character of the G12H is starting to come out. the rumbling, low end growl with sweet mid and high-end harmonic overtones that i was seeking is starting to be heard. the highs are still "shrill", but with more playing time that should mellow. thanks again for the feedback and advice. cheers.

well, here's another brief update on the G12H speakers. after a goodly number of hours at higher volumes they have broken in nicely. much more low end growl with that bass response that i was looking for, and they have opened up quite a bit. a significant transformation in a failrly short period of time. i'd definitely recommend the G12H speakers as a good match with the KT-45.

Hey CashandKerouac,
How's the Heritage G12H's going? It's been a few months now.. I'm thinking about a 4x12 w/ heritage G12M's. I know different speaker, but I working myself up to spending the $$ on the Heritage line.

kidmagic: i have not been in the forum lately and still haven't posted any saound samples (sorry about that), but i can tell you that i am very pleased with the G12H speakers. the break in period was filled with mixed feelings and i was really on the fence at first, but once broken in they have been fantastic.
