He has been GIVEN a es 330 1966 gibson.
Missing stratch plate, original case although not in good condition, the guitar is apparently all original.
Any ideas on what's it's worth roughly?
Did take any pics but I'm sure I'm see it again.
Light as a feather, really resonant ! Made my day playing it...

My SWAG would be somewhere between $2,000 - $3,000. Depends on body condition and color. Red are more expensive than the natural or brown burst. I have 2 '66 ES 335s - one a 6 string and the other a 12 string. As you said - nice light guitars! Did that one have P90s or humbuckers in it?

I've seen mid-1960's ES-330's in good original condition selling in the $3K area FWIW.

Thanks guys! This one had some wear and tear, it had p90's Prone to feedback though? Sorta. They're fully hollow unlike a 335. Takes a bit of work but I've had good luck using them live. I also much prefer the "short" neck ones over the "long" neck versions.

Yes , they are prone to feedback mainly at high volume and depending on how you position yourself to the amp. They are fully hollow unlike the 335/345/355's. But they have a great , classic sound IMHO.
EDIT: (Sorry the repeat Kustom 250 , we posted at the same time! )

That's a dream guitar in my world. One of my fave jazzers played one and his tone kills. Check the audio out here w a pic of him and the guitar like your student's.

++++Grant Green
A very under-appreciated player and one that should appeal to anybody drawn to to the organ trio bluesy jazz type of playing.
Right again, Chris!
BTW my 330 is a '65 long neck version that I bought in '68.

I believe this 330 is a '66 or '67. it belongs to the singer in my band. he's the original owner.

i stopped into a very cool guitar store in Earls Court in London back in 1997 and they had a whole room full of 330's. i remember the guy saying it was way easier to get 330's than 335's and that they were super popular in the UK at the time. anywhoo..... the got some nice mojo fo' sho.
